My white SXi 3 door project

Hello mk2 people. Im Rob from the Scotland and this is my 1800 SXi Astra. I used to have a 1.8 SRi 2 years ago and it was my favourite car ever! I've been looking for one ever since and this SXi came up for sale locally about a month ago but I missed out and was kicking myself. Was contacted by the new owner asking me for parts and I offered to buy it of him for what he paid and after a bit of hesitation it's now mine!

Anyway enough yapping , here's a lot of pics of my new Astra.







Interior with usual bolster wear

Petrol filler



Annoying immobilizer start key thing



History/mots/reciepts/handbooks


The bad bits:
Drivers rear arch - completely shot!



Passenger rear arch - not as bad but still fubar



drivers wing - kaput



Headlight / Aquarium



Rust on drivers door


After a quick wash - looks a bit cleaner


My plan of action right now is to buy a pair of inner and outer rear arches and to get myself a good drivers wing and get both sides painted. After that I can work on modifying and further tidying up

Looks good Rob, nice to see an SXI turn up on here, havnt seen one for a while, owned quite a few of these & loved every one of them, one of the best interiors the mk2 had aswel IMO, will be watching this one with interest, it shouldn't take too much to bring it back up to its former glory

nice car, as above not seen a sxi for a long time, the sills look good just goes to show what side skirts do to these cars.

It sure is, my pride and joy 1.6i Ghia, I also have a mk4 Escort Zetec

You mention the interior , I have plans to swap it for the burburry trim from my old SRi. Yeah I hope it doesn't take much to get it up to scratch!

Yeah the sills are A1, my old SRi had gte skirts and the sills had rotted away to nothing . No skirt's will be going on this at all!

Thanks Dancedj, I think I've got everything I need bar bodypanels at the moment, but I'll give yoiu a shout if I do need anything specific!

I went through Tim for body panels to do my SRi, great service, communication & prices, will you be turning this into an SRi look mk2 with the interior swap? The SXi was more or less an SRi with a couple of extra touches as standard (alloys, headlamp washers, front fogs, electric windows, PAS)

Sounds good is Tim on this forum? It's going to stay standard looking bodywise but a bit lower with a set of nice alloys. Not really aiming for an SRi rep (I just prefer the burburry), but I suppose it will be an SRi rep as they're pretty much the same bar interior and alloys.

A quick question - does the SXi share the same close ratio gearing as the SRi?

Yeah Tim is on here, he goes by the user name TJM, as far as I know the SRi & SXi do have the same gearbox, however if I am wrong I will be corrected lol, your old SRi looks very nice

Couldn't resist trying a pair on the Astra I reckon they'll look sweet once lowered.




Currently in negotiations with a member about some mint front wings, and have pm'd TJM regarding rear inner and outer arches
