I can make a Mickey Mouse with a set of compasses. That, sadly is about as technical as I get with that geometry shizzle and NO I am not afraid to say it.

I guess you would need to do a fair bit of chassis mods for double wishbones to fit it all in. I meant like the ford but with double arms mounted to a center beam but the boot floor would need altering just a tad. Never worked on an mx5 didnt realise they were double A Arms always wanted one. Fixed plenty of focus's Focai?? though.

Mee too mate i can take anything apart fix it and put it back together but lack the engineering brain! Except gearboxes they work using witchcraft as far as i am concerned!

Spare wheel well will have to go tbh for the room, but it's not like it's needed and that will let me get in to weld it all together. Thankfully not having a exhaust out the back will make life easier as well, it's all in the grand plan just gotta design it and make it. Will take a few months I think to get the design correct, in the mean time I can at least use the car and have some fun till I'm ready.

BenH Any drawings/sketchs of your idea?as i need a similar set up. Been reading (trying to read) a suspension geometry book, getting my head around the math, but the way they word things you need a degree in english language.

No drawings as yet realistically it's going to be a few months of work when I have time to work it all out, but you'd need a different design as the dampers and links will get in the way of your diff and drive shafts. It would be quite easy to make somthing that looks the part, but unless it has the correct geometry it would not be worth the effort.

Also putting power into the back wheels you will want a different setup as the wheels will try to move about under power for example.

Yeah i know it will be different but could use mountings/arm/coilover mounting ideas.I got a nissan 200sx s14 rear end to have a good look at but not had time as usual.

Alrighty then with some help from Andy Farley today, some progress was made. I found the time to time, but this time I timed correctly
Got the pickup pipe silver soldered together, the best way is wrap a couple of turns of the braze around the pipe. Then flux it and pop it together with the heat away from the join wait till it all flows out.

The nice thing is you can pop a ring of braze inside the tube before putting it together so it flows out from inside for certain parts.

Then gave it a soak in hot water to get the flux off and set to with cleaning up the sump ect in preperation to get it back together.

thats a tidy job, whats the melting temp of silver rods? would it be possible with a plumbers blow lamp, or oxy set only ?

                          Normal soft solder is around 180'C, the hard/braze 55% silver solder is 630 - 660 °C.

Maybe on a thin/small item a blowlamp would do it, but a oxy set is better for it really.

Very nice sir! A good way around welding, will point others here if it ever pops up again!

Cheers, though I think it's rare for people to have a oxy acetelene set at home now. Hands down it has to be one of the handiest tools to have around, if not a little dangerous lol. I have ocd for turning the bottles off, I end up making sure they are off 3 or 4 times!

Me too though I only use mine for cutting these days and its so very rare now that I fire them up ...... It's the backfire that I crap my self about even though I have arresters on the torch

Good stuff the silver solder we used it when I was working for a refrigeration company years ago (brass to steel, copper to copper etc ......)
