Re: [Holland] My Kadett GSi16v (turbo) restoration
Today did some work on the undercarriage.
pu bushing and new "ball joint"" ?
New handbrake shoes etc., with new bearing hub
.
Only i couldn't finish the rear beam. Because I had the PU bushing for the Kadett/Astra MK2, and i'm using a MK3 beam..
Never knew that the bushings were different, till today. So ordered new PU busing for Astra F/Astra MK3.
Re: [Holland] My Kadett GSi16v (turbo) restoration
well.... BAD news. The car is comming back from the paintshop, and it's going to my storage.
My rear panels were built by a guy, so called bodyworker, or how do you call that? But were not finished, and that after 8 months. So i took the car, and brought it to my own painter/bodyshop. He is very busy, but yesterday, he had a little time. So he and a friend of my, started to make it a 100% with sanding. Only the discovered strange paterns in the filling/filler. They started to sand everything off. Some parts of the filling just fell off !! the complete metal panels are ****ed up. Not straight anymore, and banged out of shape.
Best solutoin now, is to flex everything off, and weld new panels in.. of course are complete panels very rare.. (or just bring that piece of shit to the scrapyard)
Yes indeed, i'm very pis*ed off.
So what to do now...? I don't know. few options...
- start re filling the panels with the correct filler, and hoping it's going to be 100%
- find other panels, make the same shape as now
- find a set of Hirschcar panels (sort of plastic) and mount those. (very rare)
- find other panels, try a different shape, but what? Because of my wheels 9Jx16" ET around 5, they will be wide.
something like this maybe, almost the same as hirschcar panels, but then fixed from metal.
If anybody else has some ideas.. They are very welcome..
Re: [Holland] My Kadett GSi16v (turbo) restoration
It has been quiet for a while.
After discovering the rearpanels were messed up, i moved the car back to it's garage, and closed the door for a while.
Then i started to fix the left panel at first. Fortunately a friend of my came to help me. The rear panel is now ready for 70%. the rest is for the bodyworker. We didn't start at the right side yet.
As you can see, a lot of work on the rear panel. (the filler isn't 10mm thick by the way)
In the mean time i was looking for new panels etc. (just in case)
I found one panel by manuel, unfortunately only one.
And then a friend of my came across a guy, who quit his project. With this as a result:
2 left panels original GM. (one panel came from manuel from belgium)
one right panel original GM
some aftermarket stuff for the front
original GM piece for the wishbones
left and right original GM mounts for the wishbones (or how do you call those in uk)
And got some aftermarket rear innerpanels. (not on a photo)
I had also ordered an Inlet manifold from EDS
example photo:
The inlet, and the cossie head, I send away to a company Hellspeed in Germany. http://www.hellspeed.de/
They are doing a Fase 3 on it. Bigger exhaustvalves, bigger inlet, and exhaust ports, extra coolingchannels in the head, new springs etc. The EDS inlet is also being machined for bigger ports/channels.
Everything should be finished in a few weeks. I will make some photo's then.
Re: [Holland] My Kadett GSi16v (turbo) restoration
yes trabantman/remco.. Again... Al the filler was removed. before starting over...
Only when this aint working, i have the possibility to weld original panels in. Getting sick and tired of that car.. but...
@ Ant. yes there are two different ratios for the F28. 4.50:1 and 3.58:1.
I really don't know wich one i have. It's the standard ratio what i have.

Noooooooooooo I just sold my F28 because I thought I would never bother getting a Diff made up. Ah well I have enough things to do/money to spend on the 4S Replica build anyway.
