  • Z20LET Oil Pump Manual

I am after a copy of a Z20LET Workshop Manual that would show the correct way the Oil Pump parts go together and the wear limits of the parts.

Maybe if someone has a manual and could just take a picture or 2 and post it I am sure it will be only a page of info at most.

I've had a oil issue with my engine and I may have found the problem. I removed the pump and found the screws holding on the back plate where loose so I suspect when the oil gets to a certain temp its thin enough to squish out of the plate loosing oil pressure.

There are a few marks where the pump has been rubbing and some bits from the bearing has gone though the system.

I also noticed that the 2 parts of the pump the center gear and outer ring which has indication dots... the outer ring was upside down if the dots are to indicate the face side.

Any info would be handy if anyone has rebuild a LET pump.

    That help?

Clearance would be around that same as the older Vauxhall pump, Haynes manual has that info I think. It would certainly give you a idea..

Yeah I'd say that's a fair comment, though the end float from the gear to case I think is more important.

I have a old set of cheap feeler gauges I cut little bits off just for doing tricky things like that.

Yes I have a manual which covers the clearence for the older pump... I'll use that as a guide and see what it is. The most of the ware seems to be on the plate so I took it to work this morning and dressed the face flat again and I am happy enought with that... as long as the housing hasn't worn too much.

Hmmm but saying that I could put it up in the mill and face off were the plate bolts on that would fix it... just take a fair bit of time to set it up. Mind you I guess say if it was a thou or so that wouldn't take long on a flat bed with wet and dry... maybe.

I am a bit annoyed that the pump was not assembled well to start with... anyway I should be able to recover from this without a rebuild... just dont want to go back to the old pump as I'd have to make a new oil pickup etc again. Although I do have a SDB Steel Geared early pump on the shelf I have never used.

The Manual I have here for the STD C20 pump says,

            Oil Pump clearances:

            Gear-to-housing clearance (endfloat): 0.03 to 0.10 mm

I measured mine and got 0.06 mm and so I'm well inside that so although there are a few marks in the ali housing I'm happy to re assemble it and give it a go. Would be good to know for sure what the ZLET pump clearances are but I agree it wouldn't be much different from the older pump.
