Good going there. With the fuel gauge do the usual test to make sure the gauge and wiring are fine, could be where it's been disturbed after so long one of the leads has broken inside the insulation or at the spade terminal. Otherwise you might have to get the sender out again and check the resistance across it as it moves. I know it's all money, but if it comes to it and you haven't got a spare they're still available from Vauxhall, part number 90041379 if it's the same as my SR and £32 plus VAT.

It really is a very tidy-looking car, very...well, icy! Are you planning on putting the bump strips back on? Maybe it's just me, but I think it looks a little bare without them...

Re: 1.6 Automatic Cabriolet rolling resto.....

Got round to doing a few jobs today, first off was to get this fuel gauge working, So i set about making a new wiring loom.

                    And the result was .......

                    woohoo one working fuel gauge

Next job on the hit list was the perished fuel hose going to the fuel pump. here what it looked like.

Thats deffo on its last legs then, so i replaced the hose and added an inline fuel filter. I checked all the other fuel pipes and they are in good condition.

I am not sure if it was a bad earth or not matey, i made a complete new loom up from under the seats and it seems fine now.

As for the fuel pipes i dont think they awere the original pipes as they are marked Coden, its meant to be 8mm bore to the pump but the pipe that was on it was only 7mm bore so it was stretched, thats probably what caused it to crack.

I Should have somewhere in a box in my lock up a pair of black window winders and possibly the door handle surrounds, as the door cards came off my old cabby (sold to Mel in the summer) i will check and have a look but it wont be until the weekend though.
