1.8 smallblock - head options

i was curious to know if the 1.8 smallblock x18xe1 and z18xe are compatible with the smallblock 8v heads, like the 1.4 and 1.6 are. anyone know ? (bolt layout, waterways, oilways)

i was thinking of a bit of a hybrid mash of bits - 1.8 bottom, with smallblock injection 8v head on, and modded inlet to take a carb.

do-able, or no chance ?

ive been studying the deck layout out the z18xe and the holes are very different, so i dont think its possible to put a 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.6 head on it.

oh well.. was just an idea.
back to the drawing board
