Cheers fella, cheating lol! Theres just as much bodywork 'fixing' to be done but no rust to worry about. Got the shell cheap so I couldn't say no. Wings, front panel, bulkhead, bumper brackets, rear panel, tail light panels and windscreen are all different. Ive changed all of it exept the back so far. My GTE is gonna donate its 'rear' tomorrow!

sounds like an excellent project mate, get some pictures up. It has been done before, someone posted up pictures of a mystry P reg GTE iirc.

theres plenty of us building track cars if you look in the restorations and projects section, myself, Harvey, Sbd16v and others that you can use for inspiration.

My mates putting a red top in a nexia he bought, we're planning to race them against each other. I want mine to look like an astra gte though, minus the rusty arches. Daewoo's are uglier than my Saab! LOL I fancy getting an LET and 4x4 running gear eventually, that would go like stink. They fetch silly money but when you consider the cost of carbs and throttle bodies its not that bad.

Just open an account on Photobucket I would also recommend you shrink your pics to 800x600 using Image Resizer available freely from Microsoft as part of PowerToys before you up load them. Reason being they will be to big if you use the Image tags to link to the pics from your forum posts.

Space saver out and panel in. Starting to make rear panel for the boot.

What I removed from the car! And my mate with his M535i Shed!

Starting to come together. Front panel welded on and wings tacked on to get an idea before spraying.

My donor car before i take it to bits. Pity really.

                      On track at anglsey.

The cars rotten in all the usual places and I always wanted a serious track car that had a good solid shell. I could repair it and I still might after ive built this one. The shocks and springs are Koni adjustable. 40mm drop. They're pretty good. My mate had G-max on his and after driving mine then getting into his I would honestly say I'd never buy G-Max. Cheap rubbish. Im thinking of getting H&R coilovers for it now. By the way the daewoo will be the third shell for this GTE! LOL The one is using in the picture is a 1400 starlights. Vauxhall just dont use enough paint. I will though, and a s**t load of waxoil!

Re: Daewoo Astra GTE Track car!

Got a few new pics of the car. I should really have this in the restorations and projects bit but im not sure how to move the thread. Progress has been delayed due to some unexpected girlfriend problems but lets just say that I now have alot more time on my hands. Did the back end of the car on friday night.

GTE donates its rear then this is the daewoo after welding.

All painted in red oxide primer.

                              Sorry looking astra!

Its like this all over which is why I broke it down.

Heres the engine thats going in to begin with. Will uprate it at a later date with carbs or bodies hopefully.

Front panel is on, seam welded the turrets/legs etc etc. Bulkhead will see the welder tomorrow to weld up the unused holes.
