Little gathering in Holland today

We've had a little meet and greet in the centre of Holland with a bunch of our Opel forum members, Kadett owners ONLY. It was a super day, met some really nice people and saw some pretty amazing super show worthy cars and some daily workhorses that were cared after with all the love to keep them going well. We planned it rather spontaniously and soon it became really serious and there were eight Kadetts there eventually, which I think is not bad for a gathering that was planned just a little longer than a week ahead. Especially the red GSI was amazing, as though it had just rolled out the showroom!! Never welded on in it's entire life!! As goes for the burgundy LS (merit) automatic, so super clean!! Some lovely specimen there!!

Clean looking cars. The GSi looks good with the dark interior

What's the spec of the GT? Is it the equivalent of an SR or an SRi?

Cheers, yes, that GSI is friggin amazing!! He was a little later than the rest and we were all talking and laughing and then when he drove up everybody just went silent...

That GT I think is your SR, it has a 1.6 litre engine. Mine was a GT originally, but then with 1.8 liter E18NV engine. That might qualify as a UK SRi?

So much fun today, not a gathering to show off any muscle, just a cheerful little meeting. Definitely gonna organize another one in a few weeks after the holiday season, probably some more will join in then...

Some great pics there, loving the GT and the cover on the top of the front bumper, both a very rare sight, that GSI looked super clean too

Some really nice motors there bud. I noticed that very few of them have side indicators? I'm guessing its not a requirement over there?

I think a mk2oc road trip to holland is needed, pick up some parts while there too

Cheers, yes I liked that one because mine was a GT as well when I bought it. Too bad it was in such bad shape that I couldn't keep it all original. Mine didn't have that cover there though, just a grille. I've posted in the Dutch forum about your positive response to the GT, he is a young chap that came with his dad and later on a friend told me he had some pretty serious health issues with the heart. Both were very kind people and his father worked very hard on spray painting that front end of the car as he wasn't able to do these things himself. Makes me want to collect some funds with a group of people to get the whole car done professionally, think he deserves it...

Thanks matey! Side indicators are indeed not required over here, don't mind either really as I find it looks a bit cleaner too...

Fun thing was there was a petrol station next to it with it's own exit, but the parking lot connected to it and so many people chose to drive by our lot of Kadetts for a moment driving really slowly past it, smiling. So many people still love these cars!

Cheers, yes I liked that one because mine was a GT as well when I bought it. Too bad it was in such bad shape that I couldn't keep it all original. Ah that's sad to hear about the GT owner, if you ever come across one of those grille covers save it for me..... I WANT ONE!! lol, any chance the GT owner could send pics of that part? as I may attempt making one

Yes, but first I will need to see who he is, because I didn't see any responses from him in the gathering thread. If I know who he is I'm sure he'll not mind to measure it and photograph it some more...

Couple of years ago I attended a show near Gent, Belgium, which was a Opel-VAG show. Saw a couple of tidy Mk2's at that. Was only a couple of hours away from Calais so easy access.

Not sure that gathering is held anymore but that would be a good show to attend too.

That would be a good place too to meet somewhat more 'in the middle'! Been to Gent many times as they've got superb parties there from time to time, but that's more like sex drugs and rocknroll....
