  • Hamster wheel heater motor...... have a look at what l found!

I don't use the GTE much at all over the winter months due to the roads being so filthy and covered in salt so it sits in the drive all week and gets run at the weekends providing the weather isn't horrific and l get the time so just lately it's been standing about quite a bit. Well, saturday l washed my winter runner (Mk4 Astra Coupe Turbo) and left it at the garage drying off ready for a day of tar/scratch removal and waxing on the sunday so used the GTE on saturday night and all of yesterday and noticed a buzzing noise from the blower motor on high speed so before l left work yesterday l thought l'd better have a look make sure nothing was getting caught in the motor. Here's what l found.....

Now the first picture might not make alot of sense but it's looking inside the scuttle panel towards the blower motor, the second is the noise! One 2" long mouse missing a leg and it's tail, somewhere inside the heater box l presume!

Bloody hell, lucky you found it before it lost its' "freshness", otherwise the smell would probably never leave the car! Wonder how on earth it got in there, even a mouse couldn't get through the scuttle vent. Up the inside wing maybe?

Makes you wonder just what might be lurking in the hidden parts of the car...

No chewed wires yet as far as l could see and inside is sqeaky clean always. No sign of droppings anywhere so a bit of a mystery really as the scuttle is sealed off with the bonnet shut apart from the wing drain holes like you say

          LOL!

you know how sometimes in the summer, when you open the vents for the first time and slide it to cold, and you get a face full of crumbled leaves and twigs.....

The scuttle area drains into the inner wings.

Plenty big enough hole there for a mouse to get in.
