Re: Kev Read - PROJECT YB

SBD16v was running 12.6 in his FWD LET with NOS.

RWD, 400bhp and lightweight. With the help of some NOS you could maybe break into the 11's?? I dont know what sort of powers and weights expect what times?

        Few update pics.

Finally got my welder today, so I thought Id give it a go. Its crap, gasless welders are poo. It looks like a bird has done a crap on all my joins. Oh well, never mind. Im going to try and get the one from my work which is the boll*cks!

        Anyway -

Ive cut part of the bulk head and a few other bits away so the exhaust can get through. Is going to need strengthning!

Nice and strong front lower cross member, no more bendy bits of 2mm thick crap. Before anyone says anything that round tube is going to be cut down.
Its going to be used to hold the engine in place.

Cossie rad just fits, so thats going in.

More pics to come, digi cam is playing up at moment.

Re: Kev Read - PROJECT YB

Nice to see some more pics, Kev. Is the welder a gasless only one, or a standard one with gasless wire in it?

Mine does either, thought I'd try the gasless option but found the welds seemed very porous and gave up. Might try again sometime, as the welding operation itself seemed pretty smooth. The thing I like about welding with gas is the lack of flux and slag to chip off afterwards.

If yours is gasless only you ought to be able to get the bits to convert it, as they're all the same inside pretty much anyway.

            Ian.

PaulGTEturbo - Oh great! Someone to make the tea and annoy the f**k out of me!

Ian T - Yea, it does both. It just had a roll of gasles in it when I got it, so I gave it a go. But its like a fisher price 'my first welder' kit. Im borrowing works one and finishing it off on sunday. Ill take some pics of that bad boy, that thing could penatrate the dried gay smeg from Pauls ar$e hole.
