have you run the engine ? all else being fitted and adjusted, it might settle back a bit with a few revolutions

but run consistently hanging over the edge will cause odd wear pattern on the belt

when you have timed it up your ment to turn it over one full turn then turn it back by 7 teath and re-tension it, just thought id throw that into the mix as its wot it says on tis and the way iv been taught, but im with odders, iv never used any locking tools and they are one of the easiest 16 valve belts to do, are you sure you have the right belt??? round teath one?

As long as you take your time and at least tripple check everything and turn it over by hand a few times you should be fine (That is as long as your ok at undoing a few bolts etc)

whohoy! It was the idler bolt was bent thats why the belt was not going over the pulley nicely. I'm glad I took the idler off now to double check.

Do you think the bolt bent bent when the fanbelt went inside and wrapped itself up with the cambelt?

                    Seems a logical conclusion.

I'm looking at the EPC diagram, does anyone know what item 11, "Spring Tensioner" is and where it fits exactly?

you can see the spring in my pictures on page 1, of the early belt set up.

its not required, dont worry about it.

cool, wanted to check I wasn't missing anything, don't want any more surprises... Hopefully should get the new bolt for the idler tomorrow.
