Looking good!! almost all the hard work is done on this, good find
Almost mate, good effort by the previous owner but lacking in a few area's, time will tell once I've stripped it down and had a closer inspection, when removing the engine I found that the mounting nuts and bolts was loose and hadn't been torqued or tightened properly the wishbone fixtures was not tight either, good job I wasn't driving it!!
Ok peeps ive not forgot about this, lots of parts have been bought to add to the build once a bit of strengthening and paint work has been completed, it's booked in at the body shop for the 1st week in April 2022 pending on how they get on with other customers projects,,, the 16" Compomotive MO5's have gone/sold and I'm in a bit of a pickle as to which set of wheels to go with, both sets are 17" to accommodate the new front brakes set up.
Set 1, Oz wheels with detachable polished lips 17" 4x100 6.5J ET49, these will need a refurb undecided on finish but lips will be polished, these are a set of 5, 1 still in its original form and the other 4 have had a colour change by the previous owner.
Set 2, Khan's Rsr Nos Ex display set, 17" 4x100 7J ET45, as in the picture never seen the road or tyres.

Well then a couple of weeks ago the car has made its way to the body shop for some fabrication work and paint... Leigh still not touched it but it's there that's the main thing.
Pics not in any relevant order.

Finally, some progress, bulkhead strengthening done, work has started on the rear turrets, front bottom cross member is going to get lowered a tad to accommodate and make way for a larger intercooler and going to have the Gte16v rad sit a little lower.

Now then!! Andy & Leigh 2 brothers from Finishing Touch Autos did the fabrication and paint on the Champion just over 10 years ago and what a fantastic job they had done, unfortunately they are no longer in partnership Leigh still does fabrication and mechanical work and Andy the painter has now taken a new job up with Jct600...... so that means I had to find someone else to paint the car as Leighs new painters price was coming in a tad expensive....
So after several quotations and believe me when i say this but I've had some really stupid quotes i finally found a good reasonably priced place not too far away to paint J99, so fingers crossed hopefully J99 will have a new coat of paint very soon.
J99 has now been dropped off at the paint shop, one last strip down of the engine bay, steering rack, steering column, wiper motor, heater blower have been removed, pedal box and looms have been pulled through into the cabin.
I am also happy to report that Nassar the painter is very keen and cracking on with his work

Not much progress on the paint side of things as the painter had taken time off for summer holidays, hopefully he is back and getting on with the prep,
In the meantime I thought it would be a good idea to have the brand new Skf bearings, Meyle hubs and Febi strut tops fitted.
Another job on the listbis to clean and paint the engine block and buzz the gearbox down and give that a paint.

Tiny update: work is still ongoing body panel's and the replica front and rear Zender splitters have been test fitted, splitters are not the best to work with but my man at the bodyshop has done a fantastic job of fitting them, the aching prep work has began and the end result looks promising.
