And here is body - I bought another mk2 for approx 100 quid, and cutt off everything I needed. Of course, lower parts were so rusty that I bought new panel.

Here it is finished, painted ready to go to geometry

Here opel is in local VW center to adjust suspension.
And when you need some part - the best solution is recce car that is always around

And last two pictures with happy ending - next race.

love the beam triangulation! i've seen that done on a mk1 golf track car and though it was brilliant.

looks like you used a pair of vauxhall steering arms? and custom brackets welded to the beam. whihc is a neat trick as you essentially get rose joints and full adjutability lol!!

Agree with darren, that rear beam is very inventive. I'm looking into making some adjustable bottom arms for the front of mine. That roll cage is pretty serious too!

                  Re: Rally Opel Kadett

not looked at this beofre, have to say its very very impressive stuff going on. Fair play for rebuilding it after every crash!!

Can someone explain the benefits of triangulating the rear beam?

                    Re: Rally Opel Kadett

stops the wheel ends of the beam distorting.

erx, i know its not the standard anti-roll bar, but what hardware did you use to tie the centre of the antiroll bar to the beam ? just random U clamps and bushes or off something specific ?

again, ive noticed this feature on vw beams and must be highly beneficial.

                      Re: Rally Opel Kadett

Uhh, a lot of post since I was last here

About the rear beam: DarrenH is write, stock rear beam is very twisty, and under heavy load rear wheels travel around two centimeters to every side. So triangulation is very important on Opel (but not on VW). Added benefit is, that with those arms you can adjust toe. of course there is drawback also - beam is supposed to twist in middle section, and when it does so it corrupts camber/toe.

Also you are write on steering arms - stock item, and that welded bracket also is stock item - it is a cut off from old front strut

And about anti roll bar - it actually also is stock item, only its origin (as well as whole beam) is from vectra (here I think it was Cavalier). Vectras with 2.0 and bigger engines have slightly different rear beam - it is wider than stock kadett item, and with good camber already from factory.

They were on a car before rollcage was welded in, so they at that time provided extra strenght to body. Also little bit of safety - stock metal is very soft

Home made as a rear arch actually is used fragment from front panel. It is fibreglass.

If several people show willingness to have similar items, I could send them over sea.

actually I dont know at the moment, I have not made them for some year. I must check material prices and ask mechanic how much he wants. I will give notice when I find out.
