Unfortunately no updates to the car as my engine of the Astra OPC blew.. So the time and money will go in there and not the kadett.

Only update is what a friend made last Friday.

It isn't finished yet but the stripes were the most work designing and sticking it on the car. The rest of the decals will follow soon.
- nr 10 will be nr 9, (nr 10 drove with green stripes on the bumper trim)
- the bumper trim will be redone in the same yellow as the car.
- the windscreen will get a new yellow stripe. As this is a temporarily one just to see how wide it has to be.

Well due to the engine damage on my Astra OPC I did not had the time to do a lot on the Kadett. But that doesn't mean I did nothing.

I had to rebuilt a complete new engine for the OPC (thanks to Bo Nielsen for the bottom bare block). So the head also needed a overhaul (again). Send it to Germany to Hellspeed Motorenteile were i had done more engine parts.

So the next excuse was offcourse to get in the car, drive 600km's and pick up the head for the OPC and... my first engine parts for the Kadett.

Because I do not have many photos to post of the car, a few more from the block.

one C20LET engine. Freshly painted and ultrasone cleaned. bored and honed. skimmed top, and skimmed bottom. See also the inside of the block.







Bottom end was skimmed for the girdle. Girdle is also skimmed on both sides to make a perfect fit so you won't put any pre- tension in the block when tightening.



I will drive a LEH oil pump. So next step is to built a pick up pipe. As the diesel version is NLS.
Wanted to have a big bore pipe like the original LEH pipe which also has a big bore pick up. (if you see the difference between a C20 pipe :O)

The disadvantage of the 22mm pipe is the radius I had when bending. 100mm.

And for the people who are awake, you can see the mistake I made here.. (I was def. not awake at that moment.







ZRP steel crank. Freshly balanced incl flywheel. Ready to put the puls gen wheel on.

Normally I fit pistons with that f*ing irritating clamp which never did exactly what was needed.
So I received a present from Hellspeed when I picked my parts up. One bush to fit the pistons. (on the photo it says 86.00, but he machined it to 86.50 to match my pistons)
it took 2 minutes per piston to fit.

And here is the mistake I have made. Forgot to put the plate in, when making a pick up pipe.
First I had one from a XEV with gasket. but I fucked that one up when drilling the holes to 8 mm for the oil pump. The gasket ripped off because the steel rings (where the bolts go through) in there were not a part of the plate, but molded in the rubber. the drill ripped them out.

So ordered a new plate with out gasket, gave it some motivation and ready it is.

Waiting for the head, as it get some better exhaust valves. The bigger ones which were in, were not an exceptable quality. Hellspeed wanted to keep the head and offered to put new ones in to suit my application.

Very nice Roger, you should have said so and could have added all double to your shopping cart, I'm planning to build a good LET engine out of my previous XE at some point... This is 110% how I would have liked it done!
