I've been looking on eBay and pistonheads and there aren't many GTE's up for sale at all...saw it as a sign to cover mine and leave it till I'm ready...whenever that is

The van is going for sure, its only got to last till January, the GSi ill be keeping as planned for track use. Still on the lookout for somewhere to store it to make things easier and hopefully not end up back here in 6 months time

I can't afford mine at the minute, but i'd never get rid of it. I am lucky having a garage so I can shut it away and not look at it. You will regret getting rid of it.

I wish i'd never broke up my old gte, at the time it needed too much work, the wife hated seeing it, and I needed the money but the money was soon spent. It would have made a good project to learn a few new skills.

Big change for the GTE, the engine and box are provisionally sold and soon it'll be able to go in the garage out of the rain and crappy English weather.

Not sure of the exact plan yet regards the engine but an XE is more than likely. It was good having a turbo mk2 but I want it as simple as possible from now on. Got a nice early C20XE sat in the GSi doing nothing so it's not like I need to go buy another...sort the head an it's good to go.

It's been a grim day for the GSi but not bad for the GTE. Started stripping it ready for it to move on but I'll be keeping some bits for the GTE starting with the dash

The dash in the GTE got damaged back in 2005 when I had a new windscreen fitted and over the years picked up a few more scrapes so is fit for the skip. Kept a few more bits to one side to see if I can make use of them later on

Good news is I'm almost down to 2 cars...the GSi is off at the weekend and it'll just be the SRi and the GTE. Bad news is I've filled the garage again with dead Vauxhall bits again

Finding more mk3 bits that will come in useful for this as I've been stripping it. The mk3's don't have the braided strap on the gearbox that mk2's have, instead they have an earth cable as part of the starter/alternator loom. Seems a better idea so I'll be keeping that for when it comes to redoing the loom. Still got the tank to remove but may use that as well as I like the idea of the intank pump to neaten up the arse end. I think Harvey is running one on his so need to find it in his diary to see what's involved. The engine is sat in the garage just need to decide which way I'm going with it...NA or forced induction? There's most of the spare LET sat in there next to the XE...early revvy XE with a bit of boost up it?

Things are starting to look like I'm getting somewhere again and once these dark nights piss off again there'll be nothing stopping me. Even my other half has told me to get cracked on with it. Been that long off the road it's like a whole new project again lol

You will be thinking it Needs some boost the whole way round the track if you xe it.

                    Nice!

I thought it was my friends at first, seeing the photos. It had identical interior too. Then I noticed the date was 2005, he wrote his off in late 2004 or early 2005.

The sale of the engine and box isn't going ahead now so it'll still be getting the LET again

The GSI shell has gone and once I've got rid of the last few bits of it (and can get back into the garage again) work will be starting again on the GTE

Somewhere in here is most of a GTE and a bit of GSi

Yep, I'm running a mk3 tank with uprated pump. Works a treat and you can run the tank really low while throwing it around on track without effecting pickup. I also run the mk3 block earth mod as well as a heavy duty braid for the box to chassis strap. Think it's on page 74 of my build diary as I was checking something the other day.

Had to pass on the mk3 tank as I didn't have the time to get it off...that and it was sodding freezing when I was stripping it. I'd already crushed my thumb (which still fecking hurts BTW) so didn't fancy any more injuries

Daewoos I think have the tank setup as the Mk3. My Woo/Opel/Vaux has an in tank pump and if you look inside where the pump comes out there is a plastic bucket shapped container the pump sits in... so effectively baffels that keep the fuel around the pickup.

I have one here on the floor if you want a pic. So any early Daewoo especially the Mk2 shapped ones have this tank.
