  • my van

Well i finally went down to Redliners yesterday to get the van (top bloke he is too)
heres some pics of how it is at the mo

(Hidden away in a lock up for 2 years)

    (The 16v coscast engine)

(My early type Bedford front bumper courtisy of Astravanmk2)

    (loading it onto the trailor)

(Heres my gte looking rather dirty too)

I have set a £1,200 budget & a 3 month turn around to getting it looking like this

the van didnt want to start when we were down at Redliners due to having no petrol in it & a flat battery, but i sorted this today & it started 1st time, sounds nice too, especially with the janspeed exhaust on it

That'll look good when done I reckon.

Is the budget dependant on selling the GTE? Or are you keeping that too??

You have to keep the "Bedford" badge on the front and get an "Astra MAX badge for the rear!

              Re: my van

              Nice to meet you both
Turned out to be a mini adventure trailering it up to newcastle with losing John/him then getting lost whilst following us over the A59 and then the force 10 winds blowing the shogun allover the place when we got up the North East! (I forgot how bloody cold/windy it is up there lol) I'm glad you've bought it,I'd have never found time to do owt with it! (bought it for the champ seats/to strip .... but when I saw the work that had gone into the conversion I just didn't have the heart to strip hence it being left sat there so long!)
James C I'd keep the bedford one piece bumper/grille too and get some 15" steelies for the stealth effect lol but it's John's baby now and he's got some big plans for it Will be keeping a close eye on this thread
Looking foward to seeing you in it at Billing in the summer (just don't get Stevie to navigate or you'll end up somewhere in Cornwall! lol)

Thats not just brake dust Mr K, Me & my mate ended up down a dirt track 'coz he was navagating the map & the left front wheel went ino a muddy hole,

the budget for the van is a reasonable one i think, & i'm keeping the GTE aswel, will hopefully have them BOTH @ Billing if all goes to plan (fingers crossed)

The Bedford badge will be staying on the front bumper & i am also adding an early SRI lower valance to it (colour coded white of course),
It will be running on 15" steelies untill i get the Porsche rims polished up & fitted, and it will also be getting lowered (slammed on the deck)

Interior wise it will be fitted with "recaro" style vaux seats (got some spare SXI ones to put in) & the rear end will be borded out & covered in black alcantara

                        Cheers Gaz,

The shell is pretty solid to start with & the 16v conversion is a really tidy job too,
Bodywork wise it needs the drivers side sill replacing (passenger side was done not long before it got stored away and is like new), & rear wheel arch's arnt too bad but i wil be replacing these anyway,

I will be trial fitting some of the new panels later on today & taking some measurements for the full length false floor & side panels to be made from MDF,

                        pics will follow

looks like a solid base, as you have said. Reckon it'll look the danglies when you sort it.
