  • forged z20leh in my 16v GTE?

Had a so called performance specialist convert it to C20LET but diddnt go well so just had my original standard c20xe built and now its knocking, spend an absolute fortune on it and still not happy, anyway ive been offered a very high spec engine from a astra vxr and gearbox. Its in a car already, its all brand new, ive been in it and it sounds great and goes very very well. As hes is a mate who owns his own garage he is willing to do the engine swap and box swap for free (I supply any parts that is needed). My question is, would I be ruining it?

Depends on what you have to begin with and what you want to get out of it really.

If it is a completely original car, then I'd be the wrong one to look to for a 'yeah, great idea' response, but if it's already quite a long way from original and you don't want to go back in that direction, why not go the whole hog? Having put a Vectra V6 into an 8V shell that came to me with a 16V engine in it, I can vouch for the difference a modern engine made to that car. Always perfect starting and running, bags of torque and a fantastic sound track.

It's your car, do what makes you happy. :-)

It's not a car I will be selling and I would intend on getting original engine sorted and stored just in case I want it back to original. Just so fed up of spending out on so called specialists and still not working properly. I like to use mine most days.
