There's no set answer but if you want an insurance approved system you might want to check out the Autowatch 457RLi/T.

I’ve had a Toad Sterling Excel in my Estate daily-driver for the past 6 years. No alarm though. It is however very practical, as its transponder based. No touch needed.
I’ve also bought a remote key fob for the mk4 Astra, and slotted the Excel transponder inside this, as the original mk2 key is just a bit too small to accommodate the chip. The mk4 Astra key, is available with the same profile as the mk2, so the key can be matched to the door and boot locks. The pickup coil I’ve mounted around the ignition barrel. With this setup, you don’t even notice the car has got an immobilizer, and the key still is OEM. Just get in, turn the key like before, and you’re away. As I didn’t want to cut the loom, I’ve wired the immobilizer into the original connectors. The status LED, I’ve mounted in place of the LED in a OEM fog light switch. It looks completely OEM.
If you’ve got central locking, you can even fit the comfort module from a Vectra/Omega/Zafira, and connect the OEM mk2 Astra central locking to it, and have the convenience of central locking on the OEM mk4 Astra key. Just needs the drivers door locking solenoid modified, as it’s only a switch by factory. But this is very easy to do.
I would recommend this setup to anyone. It’s proven super reliable, used daily for 6 years.
