      Re: mattig kit

With regards this kit, unless your running the mattig wheels it'll look daft, the fronts are 11x15 and the rears 13x15. As vinci says, the tyres are massively expensive and it's possibly a tad excessive for what your thinking. The zender kit may suit your needs a bit better. I do know though that you can get a pretend mattig kit which is similar in design but not as wide.

With regards the width over standard.......

I'd guess at least 6" either side at the front and around 8" at the rear.

that's no worries bud, as I say there is another kit that's very similar but no where near as wide. A guy on here has a white one but I can't remember his name. And the wonders of power steering, but it does make you ponder about the massive strain on the already weak bulkhead. I certainly wouldn't like to try and parallel park it without, lol.

              Re: mattig kit

I like the reigers kit, I was super tempted to buy that a few years back when I had the mattig but i'd have never got both in the garage. But that isn't the kit I was meaning, there's a copy mattig kit but it's only half as wide. A guy on here has/had a white one with the kit on.

This is the one I was meaning.....

You could always try and find a Zender kit such as this...

That's what I found him, but the seller says he has very little time to get it all packed and shipped on any short notice... I might perhaps be able to get it sorted in a month or so, but nothing sooner as I too have virtually no time the coming weeks....

It's a pretty rare kit is the zender, and if i'm honest I think it looks ace, always loved that kit.

                      Re: mattig kit

Of all wide body kits, which I generally don't fancy much, this is in my opinion also one that looks very good. It's the one that keeps most of the genuine character alive, while making it look pretty "rallye". On the other hand the thing that I just love about a stock Astra is the wings, they are so nicely shaped, and that's a little bit gone with this kit on, but it definitely is replaced with something nice of its own kind.

Yes, it's front wings and wing mirrors that I've really always loved a lot on these cars, from the day that I first saw one. It's the rear arches that I find a bit of a dissonant, and if I didn't have a four door chassis I'd definitely consider swapping for round arches.

Was looking at Volvo 440 rear arches from the four door model, and perhaps modify the door outline shape a little to suit them. It wouldn't be possible to use the full arches then though, and probably when held against it there would be zillions more shapes way off...

This thread wasn't about looks mainly though, but also track performance, and still wondering how wide body, wide rim, wide tyre would improve the ride. Wider track would definitely, and this would probably account for the same improvements in the larger perspective of things, but it would still have other scrub and other suspension leverage etc...
