Just a little done this weekend inbetween a few other general maintenance tasks on my power tools, at least they all have new flex and when the special grease turns up i'll service all the gearbox's on them.

With some CAD templates I chopped up some 2.5mm sheet and tacked the sides on before checking it still fitted ok, after that I ran the tig over it in a ropey fashion as I'm out of practice with it now! Though I'm loving having a tig with a foot pedal, just needs a bit of getting used to.

Then filled in the other sides, before I put the last side on I ran the mig inside and added some stitch welds over all the joins. It had good pen from the tig I just did it for a little more reinforcement.

Then added some braces on the underside and gave it a quick spray to stop it rusting while I get on with other bits, they will all be blasted and painted properly later on.

Just need to change the bolt on the back to a stud and it's all good.

It's going to be the last I do on this for a few weeks as I'm taking my T4 transporter off the road at the end of the month to do some work underneth it. Just going to replace all the rubber bits and exhaust and give it a top end rebuild and cambelt, will also giuve the floor a cleanup and touch of paint here and there..

I'd suggest in that case maybe a pair of them fashioned into googles, ceramic rather than zircona have a rather fetching red tint.

No in the sense of fixing it, yes in the sense it's full of T4 transporter parts.. The light suspention re build on my van with cleaning underneth has gone on a bit... Sandblasting has found some large holes covered by the heavy coating of underseal they put on them That has to take presidence as I want it to go away next month on holiday Oh and a lot of overtime at work has means I have very little free time of late.
