number of teeth between cams

Hi. Does anyone know the number of timing belt teeth I should have between the timing marks on the cam pulleys on a late c20xe with the square tooth belt ?

i dont think its set in stone, but do remember when viewed by eye and timing correct, the markers on the cams being ever so slightly outside of the cam cover marks.

in any case try it yourself, if you move either of the two pulleys a tooth in either direction and rotate engine by hand, the marks are miles away, it can only go where it goes !

Hi Darren. They are a pain in the butt! Set the timing back up again today and adjusted the exhaust cam by one tooth. Landed to say that the lumpy idle issue you have helped me with has now gone!!
