  • Wiring Dual Voice Coil Sub, Help Please.

    Hi.

I'v just bought a 10" Phoenix Gold Dual Voice Coil Sub. model number V10D.
    Unfortunately no gumph.(paperwork etc)
It has two sets of terminals, Do i need to wire both up if so how??? parrellel, series? I'v heard these words mentioned in the past but dont know how to go about it.
And if anyone knows what volume enclosure i require?

    Cheers Chris

Best bet is to wire them up in parallell, this will give you 2ohms per coil, you do that by connecting the + from the amp to the + of the first coil, then run a wire from the + of the first coil to the + of the second coil.

The same is done for the the - wire the - of the amp to the - of the first coil then run a wire from the - of the first coil to the - of the second coil.

Thats the best way to do it if you only have one channel on the amp.

If you have 2 channels on the amp then you can wire the coils indepentantly but i wouldnt recommend this as its hard to get a perfect balance between the 2 coils.

It really doea depend on what amp you have and the channel output?

Hi mate, I'l be running the baby phoenix gold 2 channel octane amp 2.5.2.
            Thanks for that.
This is going in my mk3 estate, hopefully against the side so as not to take up to much room.

            Chris

Its going against the side, I'd rather it was long and thin so i dont lose the space in the boot.

                              1.5 cuft = 40500 cubic cm.

this enclosure is 40320 cubic cm
