The group S display ended mid afternoon Saturday and the show moved to Saalfelden town centre.. We drove down in convoy and parked at the start ready to kick off the procession of rally cars. There were plenty of people stopping for a look and a chat before we drove round and we had chance to look at the opposition.. The Lancia ECV allegedly had 800 bhp and I was worried he might get a little carried away and leave me to try and find my own way round the town but in the end we found out it had 400 at best as no one could get the engine running properly so when the time came we managed to more or less all stay together for the three laps..You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Awesome story mate. unfortunately i was not able to come. But yeah, driving in Germany, can be fun and hell at the same time haha. Immer Stau
One of the Opel classic center guys told his dream was to get the 4x4 running again. But indeed missing shaft and there is something wrong with the engine (I don't know what, but just it will cost a shitload of money) They WANT to get it running, just missing the funds from GM/Opel (......). There is also a plan to get the Kadett DTM started again. hopefully in the future you can run alongside the Bastos car!

Its a while since I updated this thread but to be fair we haven't been doing much because it had a few oil leaks that needed attention.. Ive been putting all this work off for various reasons but a couple of months ago we removed the gearbox to see why that was losing oil.. Also with the gearbox removed it gives a slightly better view of the oil pump.. One thing with the engine bay is the extremely limited access to components, the oil pump is attached to the engine block and sits directly under the Sprintex supercharger.. Nothing comes out without a struggle! The air filter canister that is attached to the bulkhead is removed first, followed by the air plenum that sits on the supercharger.. Then the throttle body/ inlet plenum which has to come out as it sits directly behind the oil pump.. The pump can only come out by unbolting and sliding back to clear the oil pump driveshaft and bracket.. The leak from the oil pump ended up being a ?2 seal which was easy with the pump out.. We then refitted the pump to the 4 oil pipes, replaced the oil filter which seems to be from a classic mini, and added 17 litres of fresh oil.. We primed the oil system by attaching a flexible drive to a battery drill and ran it upto operating pressure, 5 bar... Woopee,no oil leaks.. We are waiting for a new air filter and a silicone hose and I need to make a couple of gaskets so that the inlet can be replaced.. Then just the small job of replacing the gearbox/ centre diff assembly, prop shaft etc... Photos to follow if I can upload them

i was reading that half the packaging problems (compared to the opel cousins) were direct domino effect of right hand drive conversion.
i thought my landy was generous at 10 litres of engine oil
good work, hope to see it in 2018

So its been ages since I updated this thread so I will attempt to bring it upto date... Here are pictures of the leaking oil pump, whilst it was a very difficult job to get out, once it was the repair was easy and cheap.. ?2 oil seal that fits a Kawasaki bike..You do not have permission to view this gallery.
