so, what's the actual history of your vehicle ? its one of the 4 original cars built right? but its not either of the dakar cars, and its not anything to do with welch as he crashed a dakar car, then built his own, so the panels are slightly different ?
was this (yours) the one tested by andrew woods on the 86 british open rally, and then mothballed ?

Hi Darren..It is one of the four, the last one built and the one pictured on your post.. It was built in the uk for the GM Dealersport team in early 1986 from a Matter built and supplied shell and a kit of parts from Opel. It has the Opel 2.4 Manta engine running phase 2 cams and a Sprintex supercharger and X-trac transmission.. Russell Brooks and Andrew Wood tested it over the summer 1986 to prepare for the coming group S which should have started in January 1988 which would replace group B.. Group B and Group S were both cancelled by the end of 1986 leaving this car with no where to rally.. Andrew Wood used the car on the last national rally in 1986 in a bid to win the series coming 4th overall and second in the series.. Since then it was left unused until the Heritage Centre bought it around 2000 and had it re-built mechanically and since then it has appeared very occasionally at places like Santa Pod and Shelsey Walsh and in 2011 at the Goodwood festival of speed..
The Heritage centre sold it to a chap late last year..
