That's a very impressive diagram! keep up the good work!

Would love to see and hear a video on full throttle passing by a camera :P

The car was then taken to AP Racing Engines to be mapped. The map in the ecu was awful and the car barely ran.. Andrew Parker at AP managed to get a base SBD map for the ECU and then mapped from there.

After 2 hours of tweaking, mapping etc we arrived at a nice number with a monster torque curve..

The end result of it was 227bhp and 177lb/ft of torque. However its the torque curve that impresses (and makes it very driveable) as its > 140lb/ft from 2000rpm upwards and it stays flat all the way.

We could have got a higher figure from revving it more but its a brand new engine, still being bedded in at this point, rev limit set at a (hopefully safe) 8200 and this was for mapping purposes rather than pub talk..

Sorry for the very late update. The last 6 weeks have been extremely busy to say the least...

Will update in a few parts over the next few days. Not up to my usual piccie standards as was waay to busy to get many "during" shots

So to bring it forward from the last post...

Took the car to John Ashley Exhausts in Birmingham to get a custom Manifold and System made

Happy with the result - so sent it off to be coated. Preflex canisters fitted to the rear beam.

    Twin fuel pumps fully fitted

Once the system was received back from the coaters, we refitted the manifold etc

Then fitted the strut brace, fuel lines, colling system etc

Fitted the Polycarb windows from Plastics 4 Performance. They thermoformed the rears so they act like an opening GTE window

Started the huge task of finishing the wiring / switches / gauges etc

and fairly happy with the end result.. (despite the many hours of work involved!)

Thats it for today.. More to come..

I can confirm Paul's car is now running as of Saturday after a big push over the Easter break. It's still full steam ahead at the moment with some mammoth days put in at Vauxcare where the car is currently located. When Paul gets the time he'll be along with an update soon.

    Update from last weekend...

Hockly front lower arm kit fitted..

    Power steering pump fitted

    TTV Flywheel fitted

    Helix paddle clutch kit fitted

Box bolted on and all lifted into place

Bolted into position using the Hockly mounts - modified the front gearbox one with a weld in boss.

Made a temp drop plate up to allow temporary fitment of aircon pump for clearance purposes. This is actually a Mk4 pump from Baz...

Also fitted sumpguard, radiator and fan as the car is now down at John Ashley Exhausts and he needed to know clearances to make up the Manifold.

Very nice seeing thoughtful placement of HID ballasts. Lost count of the number of "left hanging" items I saw when CTR shopping a couple of years back. If they were mounted like that I'd have probably ended up with my first colour choice.......

Slow but steady progress... Some photos but not as many as usual. Work getting in the way at the moment.

Rear hubs rebuilt after powder coating with new shoes, bearings etc.

New brake drum / disks and proper wheel studs and nuts fitted and recon ATE 40mm calipers fitted to the rear beam which is fitted with the Proflex coilovers.

Rebuilt engine delivered back to me. This is an SBD230 kit - Omega pistons, steel rods, lightly ported head with std valves, solid lifter cams, Jenvey taper ITBs, MBE ECU etc. Plus F18 casing rebuilt with Quaife SCCR gearkit and Tran-X diff.

Flocked dash (by Alan / Prey on MIG) and loom started final fitment.

Hockly front casings, AIT studs and nuts fitted after new bearings..

Then Proflex inserts fitted with Proflex springs and modified 285mm Cosworth disks to suit the Hispec 4 pot calipers I will be running.

and fitted these to the car...

We have also done tens of other things - panels, bumpers etc all off for paint now. Next weekend is engine fitment time all being well, then off for Exhaust during next week.

    Laurie

Seat mountings are this type.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-...item4632e346e8

Its running 16v disks on the rear but keeps the standard internal brake shoe cable handbrake mechnism for parking and has the hydraulic handbrake inline to the rear calipers.. which happen to be bigger 40 or 42mm ATE calipers rather than the std 35mm.

Its actually surprising the difference the rears make even with bias wound all the way to the front..
