Best size wheel and tyre for a 16v GTE

As title, what is the best size wheel and tyre all round for a 16v GTE.
Ive got 15s on it at the moment with 195-50s and I'm quite pleased with the acceleration and handling so far, but the only thing that I'm not totally happy about is the looks as the 15s look a touch small.

I think you're there already in terms of performance and handling.

I've got 16s which look better, but I doubt they're better to drive on.

15's are the best Ive found. 16's are a good compromise between looks and handling IMHO though, I run them on mine because of the size of my brakes

17's throw the handling, 15's are the best for handling... personally I'm getting some 17's to drive around on day-to-day (my vanity I'm afraid) and keeping the 15's for trackdays and 1/4 mile fun.


Rubber is cheaper for 15's as well so it's cheaper to buy 2 new tyres every couple of trackdays

ive got 15s and 195 / 50s 0r are they 55s???

anyway there spot on in terms of handling . well the gtes handling anyway.....sorry i have been spoilt of late.

Im running 205/40/16 tyres on 16" wheels. And I find its the best set up.

Thats what I was thinking, 15 inch wheels on a 50-55 profile and swop to a 16 on a 40 profile, so near enough the same, with added looks bonus and retaining as much of the handeling and acceleration benefits from the 15inch wheels.

I have 205/45/16 does shudder a bit, maybe more of a bang when hitting road repairs,you can absolutly hammer it in the corners in the dry,verry unpridictable in the wet.wheelspins like a mofo even in dry. the f1s have done 10,000 with probaly 5,000 left

ive got 205 40 16s and i think its better all round than when i had 195 50 15s just a bit harder on the bumps

out of intrest guys, which vaux models came with 16" alloys and what width where they?

i have 195-50-15's, and i also get yoko A539s for £24 each, and Toyo R888's for £55 each if i wanted them.

if i were to go to a 16" they price almost doubles, 16" tyres arent all the cheap in comparason, and somtimes its cheaper to get a 17" tyre.
