I am restoring a 16v Astra at the moment and having been pointed in the direction of this web site I have been amazed at the quality of it... The re-build and mod work being done by you dudes is very helpful to others who are attempting the same thing.Having seen some of the restoration work done by others on here it kinda gives me the motivation to carry mine through.

Re: 16v Astra GTE welding project
Welcome to the site matey! Hope it is helpful to you, there have been some serious rebuilds! 3 of the particulars that I can think of would be Ian above, Harvey and Steve Heley.
Get some pics up if possible dude and good luck

Re: 16v Astra GTE welding project
Thanks for the welcome chaps.I will try to sort some pictures out but I have been doing it up now for just over a year and it is down to a shell, not so rusty as it was! 4 wheels and a steering wheel. Its been fun and games cos I have been doing the body work me self. Always fancied having a go at welding and I have been getting plenty of practice!! It is now silk violet and red lead colour mainly. The rest of the bits are strategically placed all over the house, drive and back garden!

Get some pics up Mick so we can all have a look, just use Photobucket to host and link to them as it's one of the easier sites. My build has been a little slow of late due to money and me spending it all in the wrong order. It'll be good to see another mk2 in the area as I see you live close by.

Re: 16v Astra GTE welding project
www.imageshack.us is another free hosting service - that's what I use. There's a bit of software you can download from them called 'Imageshack Quickload' that lets you right click on an image file and then click 'Send to Imageshack' which does all the uploading for you and gives you the links to put into the forum later. EDIT: Quickload looks to have been dropped from their support site but you can still download it here: http://reg.imageshack.us/isql.1.0.36.msi
There are lots of good projects on the go, Brett, Gteman, Maxwell Paul and many others are part way through some pretty serious projects at the moment, but I guess you've seen most of these already.
I've got to agree with you - motivation is the hardest thing to keep up when you remove a panel and find more rust below - I enjoy the comments from others as it keeps me going through the bad bits.

Re: 16v Astra GTE welding project

Not sure what I was doing in this pic, nothing unusual there.

repairs to inner wing, A post panel let in, new sill repair, new lower rear wing half. You've seen it all before.
Tonight I have mainly just welded in the o/s headlamp repair panel and ground down the welds etc ready to fill etc.
Thanks for the replies dudes, I thought it was only me that was round the hatstand but obviously not! All this is due to some plant pot who stole my last 16v GTE in 1996 whichWe had bought new in August 1991!! Brilliant car it was too.
