....a mate of mine is a fireman at a local station, invited me over to the place lastnight for a bit of an informal tour of the gaff.
What an interesting visit! Last time I had anything to do with the fire brigade i think i was about 6 and a fire engine turned up at school for a family fun day. Anyway.....
Got shown all the gear, sat in the engines, pressed the buttons, handled the cutting gear and foam guns and loadsa 'toys'.
Felt like a kid all over again!
When i was there, a call came in and the crew jumped down the pole, into the engine and away with blues and twos blearing.......it was class!
It was such a 'different' experience, certainly not my usual bank holiday affair. Highly recommend getting shown round a fire station if you get chance.
