  • V5 Doc

    Hiya's,
    Will keep this simple

Bought a cabby end of march this year

I filled in my section and sent it off

Got pulled by police 2wks ago as he was curious why a southern car on a hot day didn't have it's roof down (works on/off so i leave it up)

Anyways i swore blind i had the v5 to him and after checking insurance etc he left saying it must of not been updated on their system

Anyways as i was sorting stuff (car paperworks etc) i can't find the v5

Mom may of packed it by mistake when she moved out and into her new house anyways .....

Called dvla up and lady checked reg and said it's deffo not been put in my name

She then went onto say after to call a number to get the cars id checked (costs me of course)

Also post office gave me a form for getting the v5 for £19 (V62)

Anyone had to go through this buzz****s ??

Do i recall dvla and explain i deffo sent v5 off when i bought the car as i had to with 1st cabby i got or do i fill in V62 and hope for the best or do i pay god knows how much for them to id the car ???

Really peed off, Last 2 cars i've bought i've had to call dvla to get the damn v5's now it's happened a 3rd time but they don't seem to of recieved my signed part from march this year

    Cheers

    Ciao

    Re: V5 Doc

If you still have the new keepers section you send that off with a form to get a V5, and it's free.

Send it recorded though, as you don't want the PO losing it.

I had to do that with my Omega.

          Re: V5 Doc

best bet is to send in the v62 with the £19

they started charging cos too many people used to apply for new log books when they went to tax motors and forgot there v5 s

i always send any change of keepers by recorded its not brilliant but at least you have a receipt to show you sent it

Wouldn't worry about it too much, you've done your bit it's either their **** up or the previous keeper didn't send it off (unless it got lost in the post) Would only thought it'd be a problem when you want to sell the car,as long as you have the new owners slip part of the log book you can tax the car with that every time,if it was me I'd feel happy in the knowledge should I trigger a gatso camera the ticket wouldn't be coming my way lol.

think you can only use the change of keeper slip to tax it for about two months iirc

Yes this is correct, they give 2 months grace to allow the muppets at the dvla to send out the new v5!!

Basically do as mark t said, must be a mk2 thing as i had to do exactly the same, at first they tried telling me i had to fill in a request for a new/replacement log book and pay £19, after i explained i hadn't had a log book for the car they told me to send in the green slip with the form and they did it f.o.c, but make sure you use recorded post at least!!
