Red GTE - not road legal - Possible hill climb/trackday toy, Had slicks on, being towed by a burgundy omega estate with what looks like a large spares package in the back of the omega!
Looked very tidy.

did it have (viper ish style) white stripes on it and round rear arches?
don't think so - as far as i can remember just a number board on the door
it didn't have headlights or indicators just a red blanking plate.

I got 3rd in class behind a couple of Gurston regulars. I compete in the South West championship and we only go there once a year which makes it hard work to keep up with people that compete there regularly.
I've got a standard 16v alloy sump. I've seen your post about a baffled sump, but I've never had any problems with oil surge. I run a big oil pressure warning light (21W fog lamp) wired through a 20psi low pressure switch just in case, but it's never even flickered during cornering or braking when running on slicks. I just make sure the oil is always topped to the top mark on the dipstick.
The only thing to watch out for is the cam cover breather mod which is essential on the 16v - an unmodified breather will fill the inlet manifold or catch tank with oil quickly enough to leave the sump oil level dangerously low after a few laps, especially on sticky tyres.
