Anyone a residential Social Worker??

Thinking of changing my job, I've just sent off for an application pack for this job (as title) it's at a centre 14miles from my house.

Just wondering if anyone is or has been a residential social worker, if so what's the work like?

It's 3 days on 6 days off on a rota basis.

I have 4 yrs experience of working with children and young adults with extreme behaviour difficulties so thats not an issue.

My concerns are family comitments etc as I have a 2yr old son etc..

I have the relevant experience and qualifications for the job, but I have never 'lived in' with LAC's or LAYP's before.

Any advice or opinions welcomed.

I looked into that as a job too Rhyd. Don't think I could do it but like you say you have the experience/qualifications etc. Who would look after Rhys if Emma's at work is your main point.

What are the hours and do you have to work nights?
