What petrol do you use?

On me old 5dr i used to use BP Ulitmate with RON98 plug, since driving again i have been mad on getting the cheapest petrol possible!!

I did however put Sainsburys ulimate in the sx once but it didn't seem all to impressive as BP's used to so i am now back onto 92.9p a litre unleaded

Just a quick question as to what petrol you lot trust and do you think BP ultimate is worth it or the same as sainsburys own?

cant say i've noticed a difference in performance, i just pick up the green unleaded nozzle from the pump & put it in, will test between the 2 next time the car needs fuel then try the other when it needs it again & see if i notice anything

had running probs over the years on opitmax with my old red astra & my 205gti both cars were cured by switching to BP Ulitmate

then i got into using tesco 99ron in the astra & think it ran the best on it

with both cars opitmax made them run abit ruff & didnt pull as smothly on the other side had a swift gti & that used to misfire really badly on anything but opitmax

Used Safeways now Morrisons petrol from the local for past 3 years. Never a problem. Did a controlled experiment with Optimax a couple of years ago over a few months and concluded it was a waste of money.

Mines gets whatever I'm local to at the time- cheapest umdungflung or Bottymax, its all the same really

Optimax in the Astra.

Normal unleaded in the Vectra.

I tend to use Bp Ultimate, or optimax as 2nd choice.

Tesco 99 RON in mine as well. Its the cheapest my way too!

Isnt it proved to hold RON values better than Optimax (i.e. doesnt degrade as fast?)

But more importantly, has anyone tried BP's new 102RON Petrol?

I appreciate some of you seem to think it goes better with higher RON fuel, but theoretically if you go higher than the 95/98 RON the engine is mapped for you make it worse as the burn becomes slow.

when I had my astra I used BP Ultimate for a whi;e and felt a slight improvment in torque up the hills but nothing on the level. When the price reached £1.05 i soon switched back to the cheaper stuff!

going round to people saying thay noticed no differant what goes in with my old red one if i put in regular unleaded it was lumpy idled ruff & just didnt run very good. asoon i burned the reguler ul of & put sul back in it again everything went back to normal

turbo phase chips they are mapped on super unleaded

the 99 -102 ron fuels are aimed at jap imported cars as there fuels are higher quality than our rubbish fuels
