Fair play mate this is looking like it's going to be another good project. The amount of work a lot of people are doing on this site has changed my opinion of Mk2 owners over the last year :applause:

Looks like you're making a good job of that matey. Brings back some memories for me too, that rear arch!
Looks like your bulkhead was worse than mine too, good to see it all getting painted, should look really good when it's all back together, those inner wings have to be the best looking ones I've seen in a long while.
Going to be seeing what my NSR arch is currently made of soon too, before Retro hopfully.
Ian.

well its been a long time and i can turly say that i have not had a good time with this project all was going well till i started to weld the sills on the bottom lip. I can turly say i haver never seen so much rust in one place on a car .Basicly there is nothing left to fit the sill 2 so after many long convo's with my friend,s and familiy i have decided to call it a day . the list off things was long before i found all the rust and there is just to much of it :( for the car to be safe
So the plan is to find another MK-2 ( that does not have loads of rust in it )and drop my let in it
so i will put a list of bits that i have kicking around which will be a lot im sure but in the meen time PM me if u need anything

What a pain, that's why I made sure my shell was solid and rust free before I went any further.

well i had a change of plans my mate came dome the other day and had a look at what needs to be done. i wont bore u with what he said to me but the short of it is the shell is fine and i have to stop being a big baby and get on with it :)so we have spent a few days welding and i only have to weld the front inner wing and its done. few! will get pic,s up soon
LOL, you had me worried there! I was glad to see you were looking at getting another Mk2 and Im also glad you are keeping this one and sticking around. Are we likely to be convoying to shows this year, or next year?

Glad you're not giving up, you'll appreciate it all the more when it's done.
When it comes down to it, welding is fairly easy and cheap to do, it's time consuming to get it right, but you know what you've got when you are finished, which will probably be an almost rust free shell, something that's pretty rare now.
Stick at it, hope we get to see it this summer at the shows. :)
Ian.
