08-04-2006, 11:42 PM
fair play mate, i love standard look gte's , i just got a bit carried away on this one.
my mate had the gsi dash in his gaff and we just had a bash at fitting it in one day, i love it now especialy in the cab (looks good with the roof down)
astrachamp
08-04-2006, 11:44 PM
im thinking about getting a cab for the summer months, never had a cab before, must be great especialy having a turbo fitted to it,
mutznutz
08-04-2006, 11:59 PM
It is mate, today was the first time ive had the roof down with the let in
sounds lovely, took the dump valve off a while ago and now you get a loud fluttering sound from the waestgate sounds awsome.
although with the roof down i found myself driving a lot slower (which is probably a good thing) due to how windy it gets in the cab.
i would reccommend gatting one for the summer mk2 cabs are great.
p.s. sorry about the spelling

09-04-2006, 07:36 PM
Wow, you really have put some time and effort into that. Lovely shade of green, whats it called?
I should think the old bill pull you over every other day don't they? if you use that rear number plate on the road!
Regards
:)
mutznutz
09-04-2006, 08:01 PM
Yes i have like i say been building it for over 4 years now and still not happy with it, i supose its become an obsession really.
its actualy an mg colour
and yes the old bill are right on my case round my way, although the numberplate is legal by law the letters have to be black and of a certan size but you only need so much yellow boarder behind the letter and no.s they dont actualy state that a numberplate has to be rectangle.
Danny
09-04-2006, 08:35 PM
I like it a lot mate. Some nicely chosen mods and good to see its turbo'd.
Made me smile when you said the rear number plate is legal cos I bet it annoys a lot of police near you, yet it seem there is nothing they can do.:applause:
mutznutz
09-04-2006, 10:32 PM
Thanks mate, yes it really winds em up
mutznutz
09-04-2006, 11:18 PM
i will add some more pics soon of the front bumper, interior, scuttal panel, new lights, badboy lid, and either new green mohair roof or fiberglass hardtop
could i have some feedback on that last one please, cheers
Suprised you can get a front bumper on with a intercooler like that !
mutznutz
09-04-2006, 11:57 PM
ha ha , yes mate its not shy is it, the bumper needs to be chopped up quite a bit and as its new i thought id better leave it to the pro's
by the way tom luv the front end of your motor after a similar look myself

10-04-2006, 06:25 PM
looks nice that mate some serious time and effort has gone in there. i just dont like the sideskirts or the colour of the roof imho. nice work work mate keep us posted
mutznutz
10-04-2006, 07:17 PM
will do mate, yes like i say the sideskirts are being changed for some irmscher items and as for the hood i know a bloke who can make up a fiberglass hard top which would mean i could lose the fabric hood, lineing and cage altogether also the hydrolic system for the power hood which would save a hell of a lot of weight if i was to do this i would probably get a full rollcage in there with door bars to strengthen it up completely , i would also have the hardtop painted green to match.
or i could get a new mohair hood in either green or black
please tell me what you all think, as i need feedback to help me decide
AM I GOING TO FAR?????

Fabulous Mk2 mate!
Loving it, really do.
Where'd you get the plate? I post on her i while ago looking for a supplier of those but everywhere i've tried have no idea what i'm talking about. Want them for the corolla, which happens to be a similar colour to your cabby too!
Tibs
Really nice matey, I like that mate. A hard top would be awesome and so original, an ace idea. Not too far if you plan on keeping the motor matey :)

Thanks to all members for the feedback , means a lot
right belmont turbo , thanks yes i like the idea of a hard top too, your right mate it would look like a three door coupe , might stick the coupe badges on if i go ahead with it.
b32-cabby- thanks mate you cant get hardtops for the cab i have to get a oneoff made up as for the dash i cant really help mate tbh no time, sorry
gingersnaps-cheers matey, yes the pillar looks good painted, go for it.
tibs-thanks, the plate i got from a firm advertising in the back of a redline mag, it cost about £40 for front and back, will have a look for it tonight, will pm you as soon as i find it mate.

mutznutz
12-04-2006, 07:15 PM
mk-2 john thanks mate , what colour green you going for matey?
belmont turbo- yes mate i do drive the cab with no front bumper but only while the new ones getting cut to fit, by law (ive been told) you dont need a front bumper as long as there are no sharp edges sticking out from the front of the car, do get some funny looks and some smirks from bmw drivers.
had some chav laughing his socks off in the petrol station the other day he was in a black rs turbo he followed me out shouting about how shit my car was and pointing with his chump mates, and decided it would be a good idea to overtake me with oncoming traffic pulling back in front of me just in front of an island, this really got my pecker up,
about 100ft the other side of this island the road split into a duel caridgeway,
by, by, bellend, i floored it in third ,he dropped into second and i went wheelspinning past him (oh the torqe) got a bit of grip and just absolutly blew him away.
he must of looked and felt a right ***, are all ford drivers ****ers?
MK2-JOHN
12-04-2006, 07:29 PM
I'm doing mine Velvet Green, its the dark green that comes on the older type vectra gsi's (it's mistral grey atm)
although i'm debating weather or not to do the nova rear arch conversion or not tho,
i used to have the same problem with the "ford boys" round mine, untill i flew past them with flames bursting out my exhaust on gear changes, lol
mutznutz
12-04-2006, 07:37 PM
nice colour, like green on the cabs it looks classy, you should defo do the nova arch thing, that looks very, very good a bit of a sleeper mod, dont notice till you look close, then step back and admire how ****ing fat it makes the gte look.
MK2-JOHN
12-04-2006, 07:43 PM
true m8, i was also thinking about re-locating the fuel filler cap to either the inner edge of the 1/4 panel (B-piller) or if i do the nova arch's i cud locate it in the nova position (infront of the arch instead of the standard astra location)
p.s mine is an sxi, lol
mking
12-04-2006, 07:45 PM
liking that alot matey, looks fookin spanking! the rear arches, and dash look the business! the colours mint aswell. can't wait to see a pic with the front bumper on :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:
mutznutz
12-04-2006, 08:21 PM
mk2-john- cap in the 1/4 panel always looks the biz but the nova location would give it a more what the **** kind of twist.
mking-cheers matey, will post pic of bumper asap.

p.s. mk2-john sorry mate thought you had a cab too, love the sxi ive owned three over the years , you say its a turbo 8v or 16v?
I blew up the old 1.8 8v engine :duh: & my dads cally had not long been in i rear end smash & was written off so i got the engine off him & he fitted it to the sxi,:Banane43:
i hadnt driven it much with the turbo lump in before i took it off the road,

Fair do's mate, not really into the kits n bits but I take my hat off 2 you. Its sweet as man, you must of spent a small fortune on it & 2 b fair its paid off, lets see some pics with the front bumper on.
Think your on to the right idea of changing the skirts mate as there a bit, urm, big. no offence. You've got some right ideas & the hard top is a quality 1. It'll bring the old mk2 bang up2date in 2days trends.
Sweet.
mutznutz
28-04-2006, 11:02 PM
