After feeling the power of the 1.6 the 2.0i could wait a while, i will see how it goes! If you find anywhere cheaper than motorworld let me know if you don't mind!!!

YT's astra hasn't got a standard 1.6 in tho. it was my mates car and he rebuilt the engine because of oil pump failure. its been ported and polished, valves have been reworked, cylinders honed (sp?)out, carbs been played with too. i think the trick is to keep it on cam. it feels as quick as mine, just not as much tourque. i had to give him the stuff really,it would of only set over my yard and workshop forever!

Officially i am illegal with electrics (slightly colour blind), 3 amps? God damn what you doin runnin each sub off one amp & the 6x9's?

yeah both the subs will have there own amp... and the other amp will power the 6x9s and components! hopefully it will be loud(ish)!!!!!!! :)

sub's sound shite imo :p unless you listen to that type of music or have a very nice quality 10" in your system, I actually found high quality 6x9's and componants handle bass very well.

But if you want to shake some rib cages then go for it ;)

OT: I actually have 4x10" and 1x15" subs in my trace elliot bass guitar cabinet so I guess that previous statement is a bit hypocritical :p

A general rule of thumb is 10" for kick, 15" for low low bass and 12" is a combination of both.

I'll be going for two 10" and one 15" in the Kadett.

Great progress on the Astra, SXI seats arn't my favorite, I had a black CDi interior in my 5 door, very plush.

i've heard alot of set up's and 10"s are the only sub that actually retains some musical prowess imo, 12" and 15" just dominate the sound. unless of course you are prepared to spend alot!

10" + 15" covers the range I guess.

Astranomical
14-01-2005, 07:49 PM
What like me! my single 15" cost me £500  the amp to drive it was £600 . Its definitly worth it for the sound quality tho!

REMUS
14-01-2005, 08:11 PM
Why what are you running? Pheonix gold or somthing? I have seen plenty of £600+ amps but sub's don't usually cost more than £400 unless they are somthing special.

Astranomical
14-01-2005, 08:22 PM
its a 15" diamond audio m6 mk2. when i bought it in august there was only 8 imported from the states! the amp is a jl audio 500.1 mono block. the sounds awesome, pure clean bass, and it wil drop real low :D shuki, who owns ice direct in peterbourgh said it sound produce 150db+

I don't know about that I think most sp cars aim for about 169.9 db or that may be 269.9 :o

Peakster
15-03-2005, 08:48 PM
169.9 sounds more like it if too high in fact. I had a friend who had two Cerwin Vega Strokers in the back of his astra. They were running 1000W each  . Unfortunately I can't remember what dB he was putting out. All I know is that is was unbelievably loud and he could set off car alarms from about 20m away.

Although 169.9 don't seem like much more than 150dB its actually a hell of a lot as for every 3dB increase, the volume actullay doubles.
