Hi there, just bought my first mk2!!!!

Hello I am new to this site. I have just got hold of a GTE 8v on a H :Banane44: :applause: . Here it is:

My plans for it are to,
Remove the tints
Lower approximatly 35-40mm
Replace the drivers side front wing with an ariel-less one
Find and fit some mint seats and doorcards, and fit a new dash, and any other plastics that are damaged.. All in black
Remove any rust from underneath and underseal
Possible fit some Cavalier GSi or Cesaro wheels, or refurbish the ones fitted.
Fit a tidy audio set up.
Full service including waterpump and cambelt.

Any advice or ideas would be appreciated. Cheers, Joe

Hi, thanks for the welcome also. Yep subtle is the order of the day. If I change anything it will be for newer Vauxhall parts like Vectra gearknob, cavalier wheels, just to keep it looking factory, but with a fresh modern look also.

Hello Rich, thanks for the welcome. If you like 8v's then you'll be pleased to know I have no intentions of changing it to a 16v. I want to get the engine as mint as possible, and looking all shiney. Theres just one leak on it so far, and a think it could be the gearbox not the engine. I'll investigate further when it stops raining for more than 10 minutes!! The cavalier has gont but lives on!

How do I become a paid member for this site? I want to join because I have intensions of keeping this car for more than a few months this time. I've always wanted a GTE and have finally got round to it, very happy indeed. What are the benifits for paid membership? Do we get a nice shiney sticker? Cheers again!! Joe

You don't get a load at the moment for being a member as we are still a small club and the running costs (forum bandwidth) are relatively high, but it's better and more open than some other clubs ;)

We are working to get more member benefits such as VBOA accreditation.
