Hi everyone, and a nice little GTE (MK2) community you all got here! :)

My name is Jon and i drive a MK2 GTE 16v leather edition (not a champion), engine is on 80k and both interior and exterior is pristine in my oppinion - i will post some pics.

I am currently looking at changing the suspension steup and have been recomended SPAX -40mm (V7784) but as it already rides on a -60mm Weitec setup I find it far too hard and low (crap basically unusable) so looking for a firmer but not harsh ride.

Can any one recomend any products to me so I dont waste any more hard earned cash?

Hi and welcome. Search is good ;)

We on here recommend Billstein Sprintline or Courtenay Premium if you have the money, otherwise go for Avo Chassis Dynamics CDK90-08 :)

agree really. brand realy comes down to loyalty, trust and recommendation, but you would be spending 350-400 for a really inspiring fast road suspension kit, or 200-250 for something thats comptent and good improvement.

Great!

Thanks! I was told Koni were the best by loads of ppl but like you say - recomendations are the best as none of the other ppl had a GTE 16v.

PS Its probably staring me in the face :duh: but how do I post an image on here?

here are some pics of my car last year.
I personally like this car as its unique although i do like the deep bolsters of the champion seats but i have owned one and it got nicked!

BTW I have removed the 1990s additional 3spokes now and fitted 16v GSi cavlier alloys - much better IMO!

Let me know what u guys think!

Looks really nice! Those are original seats retrimmed?

Just needs some Wurth trim dye/restorer on those bumper inserts/trims ;)

Only problem I really have with it is the local lads on the estate nearby who just cant stop knocking my fooking door asking to sell it - The answer is no! and BTW get a licence first - i was offerd silly money for it once but im sure you all know what thes ppl are like (full of bs)!

I thought bumper trims came in grey from factory - everybody says get them done black?

Originally I thought it was a retrim but as i am now the third owner and have contacted the original guy he says it was like it from factory but if it was it must have been special order so not 100% sure.
Its 110% dogs bollox job if it is retro.

Nooo don't paint them, especially not black. They should be a dark grey colour. Yours aren't actually all that bad, but considering the rest of the car it's a finishing touch. If you know a bodyshop person they will be able to get Wurth stuff which is trade only. They do a grey trim dye/restorer which brings them back to the perfect colour and lasts absolutely ages. It's about £20 a tube but well worth it.

I have been running Koni top adjustables on my GTE 16v with Eibach springs and I can honestly say it's the best setup I have used, for general driving and playing hard. The shockers are so easy to adjust and the Eibach springs complement them perfectly. If you have the money and you can afford this setup it comes highly recommended by me.

Hi eveyone + thanks for comments :)

Just thought i would update you all on the car itself as those pics were from last year. I have unfortunatley noticed a bit of bubling on rear arches and also on front wings by headlamps (panic) I dont know about bodyshops but i want it sorted pronto!!

I know im being fussy but these things are like car cancer and dont stop until its dead!

Thing is as I know nothing about bodyshops who recomends what and where (bearing in mind im based near birmingham / west midlands

BTW T

BTW Thanks for the comments on the suspension too - i had thought of eibach springs with Konis but was worried it would be too hard?
