Hi, a few of you I recognise from MIGweb... I was registerd on here ages ago before the crash, but got a kick up the arse to re-sign up today from SBD16v!! :p
So here I am, haven't got that many pics of my project car uploaded, but there are a lot on my website: WWW.ASTRAGTE.TK
It's a Brand New bodyshell,
60k LET lump,
Brand New wheel brearings (on 5 studs),
Brand New suspension/steering rubber bits,
Brand New manual Rack,
Brand New Astramax wishbones ,
Brand New Koni adjustables+springs,
Brand New front struts,
Brand New Powerflex bushes
Brand New engine bits,
Stainless fasteners where possible
Actual aircraft guages, dials, and switchgear
.....And a big bill from vauxhall.. lol.. Using only GM parts where not uprated.
So far on the project... The rear beam is on (cav V6 beam) and engine is stripped down. To give an idea of the cleanlyness heres a couple pics of the underside...

looks cool mate.
Question about the Mk3 cav rear beam. Im told its 20mm wider thank the standard MK2 16v item. Is this correct.
What sort of modifications were required to make it fit the GTE and work properly?
did it come from a hatch or saloon?
cheers!

The beam was of a hatch (if memory serves me correctly!), yes they are 20mm wider, but the hinge points align perfectly, have got callyT wheels on with 205 tyres, and no brake disks... only just misses the arches, MarkT told me that 195 tyres give a bit more clearance!

lol.. the beam was stored wrapped in an old bed-sheet! can't risk it when you've spent so many hours working on it!!! got a couple sctatches while fitting, but nothing that can't be touched up!

cheers for the info mate. Was looking at a MK2 cav estate one but Im concerned that the ARB on that is thinner than the GTE 16v one, and its only 10mm wider.
Cav one sounds just the job:) much easier to get hold of. What thinkness is the ARB on that in realtion to the 16v jobbie do you know?
