This is my 87 Astra convertible, completely standard 1.6 8 Valve, no mods apart from a decent alarm. Had a new roof on it this year as well.

Future plans, digi dash, some work on the roof, my clutch bearings on it's way out. Would like to retrim the interior new cards etc and maybe some recaro seats. The engine as and when because im a complete novice.
What du reckon?

I reckon it must be, ive never seen one as old as it around, oldest ive seen is an 88.
I did get some GTE clusters off ebay but they were for a hatch and ive never seen any for a cab. I wouldn't mind some though!

Get a gte with a bad body (8v or 16v) and transfer all the running gear, brakes engine.. etc. You will save money in the long run, infact Mace has an 8v GTE for sale PM him I think he wants £250, its well worth it, different colour mind.

Maybe in the future, I havent got the cash or the space to get a donor car yet. Ive never been keen on white either, I think it would look better black!

If you retrim/replace your interior, let me know as I'm planning on buying and restoring an 87 SR and as Brett said, it has exactly the same interior as yours and it's in not as good a condition as yours seems to be. I'd be interested in having any parts you were replacing.

Sure, ill let you know, wont be doing it for a while though, I want to get a couple of decent old school recaro seats, and I dont know how hard it will be to get some decent door cards. Only problem is the drivers seat is actually a passenger seat and has the usual wear on the bolster, but the cards and passenger seat are ok.
