Hiya's,
Work fully started dinnertime today Friday 13th Jan 06
Nice date for me to get on with it lol
Anyways will be trying to keep a picture diary and posts etc to maybe help myself (help Q's etc) and hopefully to help any others who want to do a Mk2 V6 conversion
Took some pics as car was, Will keep this updated etc as i progress
Bear with me i sorting pics ;)
OK, The car as she was before i started stripping the engine out
You can notice the rust damage to hood frame etc in some pics
The colour is i guess champion burgundy but camera with the flash throws it out as a more bronze colour

Hiya's,
Last year i had to replace cv boots on the valver ...
Got a plier circlip remover
Ended up taking outer shaft ends from other cv's as wishbones/suspension was being sorted at the sametime
Now for the life off me (bear in mind it was nice n sunny and i had no cv grease ! to worry me or hinder my vission) i can't remember on the outer shaft to cv's do i compress the circlip or do i open it ?
I was sure it was compress the make it smaller thus allowing the shaft to come lose from cv
Am i right ???
Spent most of this afternoon trying to get shafts out to drop damn 8v (weeks been messed up with family/ordering let parts/usual stuff going wrong lol)
Cheers

Hiya,
HE HE
I gotta get my mind right boss (said in paul newman accent (Coolhand Luke))
Ya know 1st attempt on valver was 2mins with a 99p pair of removers, Spent 9 quid on halfords set and other side was like 10secs lol
Man i miss having sisters drive to mess about on, Stuck in a damn garage that's right at the end of the cul-de-sac, Garage is dark damp bitterly cold and no damn power in it grrrrrrrrr
Cheers mate :)
Ohh while i'm here :D .........
Got equal driveshafts with 25xe ........................
The CV ends are on both v6 shafts i mean, So is it just a case of getting them slid n tabbed into a spare F20 (got light f20 fly and new clutch kit for it also, Was going on valver but wanna do this cabby nice from the off)
Hope it makes sense
I suffering from premature fatigue brought on by messing with fiddly greasy cv's while watching fingers turn blue with cold lol
Cheers Again Mate

hi m8 all i done on mine was use the valver shafts and joints and mines fine all you need to do is remove the balance weight on the o/s shaft
i know the v6 outer joints will fit the valver shafts so it would do no harm to change them
on my last v6 i had to change the outer joints cos they where clicking but i put that down to 130,000 miles with a valver and 20,000 miles under v6 power

the V6 Shafts will go straight on the V6 + F20, but you'll need a spacer for the mounting bracket.

I've got an autocad drawing if you want to get one made up yourself.
I only had 10 made, as they were 1/2 the unit price of getting a single one done.
Down to 3 spares now

Hiya's,
App, Sent pm about conversion, But read your net access is limited
Gist was, Sold one lump and kept other one, The one i've kept has all wiring labelled etc (guy i got this lump off took the trouble n labelled it all and ran me through procedure of sorting my sigma also (he used to install them etc etc))
So hopefully we can cover each others 6 for the conversion ;)
As for spacer Mark has 3 left (at last count anyways lol)
Mark T's site is full of goodies so to speak (may try the final drive option for the F20)
I am just plodding along trying to sort a let setup for other car and this conversion too
On a tight budget but in a way this is helping me.................
Makes me have more time prepping etc rather than having everything to hand and skimping on areas needing time n elbow grease (so to speak)
One blessing is now the days are slowly turning warmer n light for longer i can usually grab a few hours in garages (no power so no light or tools grrrrr)
Anyways enough of my waffling
I'm ok
Hope your ok
And we may be able to help each other through the conversions
If you get chance check all Marks site is great for other goodies too
Well Take Care Guys

Hiya's,
OK, Had a few probs on my valver (My only legal car, So she takes priority at the moment)
Back to conversion business
Prolly a daft Q ...................
Battery side at the loom plug, Wires for alt/starter etc come off the loom as normal, Now also on the bay-end of plug there is a relay wired in, Any idea what this is ?
It splits from batt main red perm power and goes bay-wards through some wires (offhand they are red-red and blue thin and a red-blue thick and black ones, This is off top of my head from a look earlier)
Now the 4 or 5 wires going from relay splice following other wiring through the passenger side of bulkhead are all black so i gotta be careful without knowing what the darn relay is for as i don't fancy messing with like 5 wires all the same colour doing something completely different lol
Just relay description be fine for now so i can read up
Ohh there are 2 immobs/alarms on it, Can't think of name but they are well cheap lol, Ahh scratch this line of thinking i remember it's a gm part # on real sheesh my memory
Sod it will try n post a closeup pic later as writings confusing me so will prolly throw you guys off too
Cheers

Hiya's,
Relay # reads GM # that is, As 9037865 which don't show on epc but, I threw this on epc without filter for the cabby details and it through up 90378651 !!!!
With 1 on end it's showing as "Relay, Fuel Injection / Fuel Pump Relay"
So now i think i can assume it's what it says on epc :)
I assume on the 8v it comes off perm power/ignition and then goes back rearwards of car down passenger side

it's the Fuel pump relay, but you know that already.
that needs to stay on the loom when you sell the XE.
Your V6 loom will have it's own one
SRIs are F18CR

Hiya's,
Few last Q's as engine etc is going in .............
Lump had the AC on it, I have removed this and got a non ac bracket last year (think i got it cheap lol £14 + dreaded trade from dealer)
Now...........The ac bracket is of rounded type obviously to go over round ac unit, Now the non ac bracket is more of a triangular shape thus allowing a shorter non-ac belt to be fitted
Vx # 90495067 is new non ac bracket
Vx # 90425541 is old curved ac bracket
Am i right in thinking i remove the one idler and then with new non ac bracket attached i just make a bracket to fix front wing to new bracket as per normal V6 transplant using a F20 box ?
Hope this makes sense (need to source some metal early tomorrow)
Many Thanks

If your car engine has an idler between PAS and AC pumps, then it's lasted well!
Vaux did away with that idler and used a shorter belt.
It's not needed.
Defiance
17-02-2006, 10:23 PM
Hiya Mark,
Logically looking at the aux belt layout, With mine having an idler kinda inline with crank to pas, With that removed and ac left on then the shorter belt you mentioned would i guess fit with idler removed and ac left on (hope that makes sense) not that i will be putting ac into a cabby lol
Anyways, As always Many Thanks :)

ohh any idea what year vaux phased out that idler ?

Now i lost the clicky link email from imageshack in crash
I have found a link on their site to request link but i have a problem
I have forgot which darn email i used for the account
Anyone know if the reply from imageshack is automated etc ??
I don't want to have to go through my email accounts trying to figure which one i used only to find the pictures on this conversion are taken offline by imageshack for thinking i am spamming or trying to gain access to someones elses addy
Hope this makes sense
PS: Once this problems sorted i can upload latest pics etc

Ordered material from a local metal merchant
Below was a very quick drawing i did, The part is like an unequal angle 70mm x 130mm by length
As you look at the holed (for lightening) face that's the 130mm side the 70mm is the underside that goes to the area where bottom of the door sill will be spotted on
With some triangles for extra support :)
This will be stronger and i can tell you for sure better sealed against future corrosion :)

Hiya's,
Problems problems lol
Valvers fubared on me so gotta sort this asap
The above cabby is getting gutted n scrapped
I bought a J reg cabby same colour with electric hood saturday :)
After waiting for weather/ok for drive usage etc etc it makes more sense to get bits off the knackered cabby and keep or sell em for spares
After my valver is fixed and then let'ed :) i will do the V6 transplant and ammend the posts so far in this section (maybe easier to open another topic n let this die me thinks)
Anyways the rust horror pics above are now not a worry as the new cabby needs just a tweak with the hood mechanism and a lump transplant :)
Cheers
