  • anyone got one of the RSC quickracks to hand?

    URGENT!!

Im pretty sure the quickracks that Rob had made up by RSC had labels on saying who actually made them?

if they did can someone PM me the details, anything will do, name, number postcode

    Cheers
    Brett!

Re: anyone got one of the RSC quickracks to hand?

They were made by a company called Power Steering Systems/Services or something like that. The only label on the rack is this one as it's a remanufactured OE part with new innards

See my online diary for more pics

If they will sell to you directly make sure you get the rack heat treated or it'll only last you for about 30K before is wears out due to the extra forces placed on the rack and pinion.

I actually OWN one of these, I paid for it the same time as everyone else!!Only 3 of us are still waiting for them.

We've obviously been ripped off and today I gave RSC a deadline before I go to trading standards. Ive been systematically lied to and now to top it all of their phone lines are dead and I have no way of contacting them.

I'll be lucky if I ever see a quickrack or my £180 odd IMHO.

I want the manufacturers details because I want to ring them to see if an order has even been placed for them.

RSC are having problems with their phone line this week as I have been trying to contact them and ended up e-mailing where I was told BT have been informed.

Trevor e-mailed me today which relived some of my fears LOL!

I spoke to the maufacturers who confirmed what Trevor has said, so he has been 100% honest regarding progress of the order. Just a shame he forgot to keep me updated LOL!

we *should* have them in the next 5-6 weeks.

Unfortunately I damaged my new steering rack not long after I had totally sorted the suspension. A top tip is to replace your front tyres if they are starting to look worn. I made myself live with the knackered rack for a few months. When replacement time came I considered a non-pas Quickrak. This reduces the the number of turns lock to lock from 3.5 to 2.5. My decision alternated daily as to whether losing the power assistance was a good idea versus the sports appeal of less turns. Eventually I decided to go for the Quickrak. If I didn't like it then it would be a simple enough task to refit the PAS. The Quickrak is made by Power Steering Services and sold by Trans Auto Sport. It cost £99, which is less than a reconditioned standard rack.

I was aware of that, So I checked it out today. Its because they only make them to special order, with a minimun of 10 per order now.

IIRC the gears were'nt hardened in Tom's either? these ones are.

Is this from Power Steering Services in Worcester by any chance?

sonunds like the ones RSC had manufactured.

                        You have a PM anyway.

I've got one on my GTE I'm building, 2.5 lock to lock and yes they are manual racks. The only thing you will need are the bellows and the steel tube.
The complete rack with an OE manual rack below less the bellows and steel centre tube. the quck rack is easy to fit and gives you pin sharp steering and arms like Popeye.
