this is a sensible post, keep it that way :p
cant post this on mig since my business is in my sig LOL and i have given up posting on there for a while, shame cos they were gonna get a similar discount structure. hey ho.
which brings me to my point, by not allowing any advertising surely they are shooting the board users in the foot...nearly all forums use links to good businesses (the bad ones dont last long, keeps them on their toes too lol) to get the best prices and service....mig wont get this unless preselected by the admin.
just my opinion, but look at passionford.com, whom i am looking to advertise with at some point i think, they have a whole forum for traders to get their prices and services out there!! and everyone uses it!!!

i think its silly mig is the only forum that is open and is there for all vauxhall owners and always will be the bigest but the sites ppl are advertising are small time astra-mk2 and like dedicated to one type of car its a shame mig cannot just relax some rules a litle the funny thing is i heard of mig on someone elses sig on another web forum lol

plus, like themselves, people spend their own time and money to make a forum/club and keep it going
they bloodywell want to show it off if nothing else!!

I agree, The whole Idea of an online community such as MIG is to enjoy the whole Vauxhall community and foster "Satellite" sites such as this one which caters for a more focused area of Vaux relater japery.

By enforcing rules such as they are at the moment they are alienating many of the "Hardcore" which have been on MIG since the early days.

As for traders, I can understand the whole legal quagmire that sites don't want to be dragged into in the event of a libelous comment but a forum is a place where people (rightly or wrongly) express their own opinions, through doing this they can help others to avoid pitfalls and allow traders who go that extra mile for the customer to shine through all their competitors:cool:

ie traders who sign up to 35 quid a month advertising...sorry thats the way i see it and thats the way its become from a traders point of view
they have proved they dont know what traders to use time and time again on that site, at least i learnt that much lol
i was going to rejoin as well, simply to show a little support, but it seems to me like all they want is the banner money :(
ps in no way are we perfect or better than some other places, just saying thats all. i know places they really should be talking to actually, but noone even knows they exist! (but dont worry i now supply their stock or can arrange use of their services :p)

what exactly has happened, a bit of advertising in your sig I dont have any problem with but can understand why some might, but if they are removing links to sites like this then its just a bit to anal....

no links to other clubs/forums/traders in sigs
i think its trying to take out the advertising and replace it with google useless info ;)

the really stupid thing is that theres the option not to view sigs, why not just make people aware of that
i get the 3 lines thing even tho that crap google thing takes up around 10 :p

odders just posted up the rule

3. Advertising - Please do not advertise a company or service in your signature or posts. Trade are allowed to post adverts for second hand items such as cars and parts - but we ask that these adverts are marked as trade. The advertising forums are not for chit-chat, please do not make comment on items for sale if you have no intention to buy.
no wonder 95% of mig gets ripped off, the only benchmark they have is TV mag LMAO
they have now decided this includes other vauxhall sites

they should just turn the sigs off ffs

how are you not supposed to advertise a company or service in a post when a good %age of them are 'where can i get...' or 'who can do...' in the mech and general forums

what do you say, 'i know, but due to rule 3 i cant tell you' ???

tell mike & sean to edit all relevant posts to that affect :p

I'm currently raising the Issue in the members section, I'm half expecting to have the post moderated or closed, I hope not because the current issues are making me doubt my continued membership with MIG.

join the club Joey. Im very seriously concidering the vxlscc for next years shows.

To many people on MIG have got to big headed, over inflated egos.

in light of what odders has posted above, i dont see why I woauld want anything more with a club with an attitude like that. Its bullshit.

Well it looks like a hasty U turn on behalf of the MIG top brass, I also think that they have realised that they need to sort their policies out.

If Astra Mk2 has a Billing slot in '05 I'll be requesting a space on there:D

not the only one mate, but to have a stand at billing you need to be recognised by the VBOA, that means making a presentation to a board of the existing cluibs at the AGM, theres a lot to it. I watched it all happen with the MK1 Astra Club a few years back. I dont know if they ever did get accepted.

PVS would be a more realistic option as no recognition needed.

I spoke to Phil Mayger on MSN last night about the western reigon of the Vxlscc.. they meet just of the M32 in Bristol, so not to far for us is it?!?!

No but I hate Bristol with an unnatural passion, I'll see if MIG sorts its act out and go from there.

Any show that Astra-Mk2 displays at I'll be pleased to show on (If you want a kadett on the astra stand:p)

Funny you should say that Rob, Brett and I were pondering how many parts from different Vauxhalls we have on our cars. I'm sure that mine is at least five!

I think if you guys was serious about putting certain things in place as a club, i think VBOA status wouldn't be a big problem for Astra Mk2's, as there isn't any other club that specialize in just Mk2's

id expect it to be closed or something. they do that alot, i just see it as they cant handle something being said about them, or things they are doing, so they get rid of and try to cover it up.
i really dont get why mike is getting so picky with things recently, its a bit petty..but i guess at the end of the day its his site.
mig have been going down hill recently.ive met so many good mates through mig...but now, its not how it used to be.

pv you dont have to be, that would be alright to get a stand on i guess....though i found that pv is kids showing off their 5hite installs that makes their cars rattle more than anything, and billing was a bit more of an old mans show....
