i like that nice and different to a gte impressive that one
Thanks guys, some really nice comments.
Its the factory colour, it was the thing that caught my eye before I bought it, quite rare as they only ran it for just over a year on certain trim levels as an extra cost option.
Its a 13s you see under the bonnet, I know its only a baby, but with its trusty 4-speed 'box, and less than GTE weight, she has upset quite a few people in her time.
XE on the way, along with a few other bits as and when finances allow. Wont be changing the bodywork really, as I like her as she is. The splitter is from a Seat Cordoba, I know its a bit low and chunky but I reckon it makes it look quite 'mean'. Might decide to take it off when she's back on the road tho.
Thanks again for your comments.

No don't XE! U gotta keep it unique! For the cost of the Transformation you could prob get the complete GTE etc for fun use.
The 1300s is a superb little engine I loved mine and the 1600sv is little difference (nice to have a bit more torque).
If your bored with the output i think mild porting, sport cam and exhaust system replacements would see a difference, without drastically altering the car.
Bye the way love the car
Nice I like it :)
Not so keen on your splitter though
Have you thought about doing an open mouth upper grill ? That would look good I think

very very nice that is mint and great choice of colour well done
Again, thank you all for your very kind comments, makes quite a change to what I normally hear, ("get a modern car", "its old and slow and always on the want..." etc), which pisses me off after all the time and effort I have put in.
Thought long and hard about engine changes. love the 1300, but it just lacks in all areas, sick of kids in 16valve this-that-and-the-others being quicker, overtaking can be a bit of an event too! and long distance to shows etc can be tiresome and costly.
Wanted a LET at first, then saw sense as I dont have a million pounds sat in the bank to run it! ;)
Thought about keeping it as is, but tuned as mentioned by one or two of you. This would be great, but for the outlay, i don't think I'd see the jump in performance an engine swap would give me. Thought about twin carbs, a la Nova Sport, but again, these are not exactly cheap nowadays.
Think XE is the way forward, (although going on my past history, it can't be ruled out that i'll go all strange and change my mind again....!).
I'll keep you posted as to my progress, and hers!
I'd love a GTE 16valve as another toy, but as it is, we've got three cars at home and no more room at the inn so to speak, got my XE convertable in a rented lock-up too, so until I can afford to move to a house with a bigger garage and finances grow with it, i'll have to keep just the one 'toy', this is it. (For now!) ;)
Front splitter has made the front more aggressive to those who have me appear in their mirrors, but as said, may well be coming off to clean up her lines a bit. Grille may also change, the reason for the grille she has is that I didn't want a GTE front, as at the time all the boy racers had a gte replica and i've always steered from that crowd.
Anymore thoughts appreiciated guys, you have been very kind.
Thank you
Tibs

TBH i had forgotten about the lack of over taking power etc that the 1300s offers.
I went to uni in Sheffield and found that while driving the 200 miles i got tired out by the drone of 1,000,000 RPM at 90 with the 4spd box and also at every round about - every car i'd overtaken in the previous hour not only caught up but over took!
I recon you gotta do what pleases you mate. There isn't really anything to do with the MK2 that absolutly breaks the bank and you look like ur alreadey sorted body wise.

very nice! I know how you feel about the lack of power but at least you have a petrol engine and not a crappy 1.6 diesel like i had. Go for it. stick a fuk off XE in and KEEP HER LIT! :D

luv that front end looks well mean just needs an xe/let/v6 to back it up.
Vauxfan was selling his convertible a while back you may remember, I'm the new owner, with several views as to putting her to use. Gonna be getting some spanner weilding mates to assist in the removal of some parts soon......bit cold and dark after work at the moment and my garage aint lit or heated.
Would love to be at a few shows with my green one, but dont think she'll be ready for all the show and shine stuff for a while. I hate to see cars that arn't quite ready being shown alongside mint motors, only because the others all outshine a 'not ready' car so much.
Might get to one or two events, I have mentioned the Harewood Hill hillclimb before, but i'll be in my Corolla if I do get out and about this year. Going to the Autosport show next week on the extra quiet trade day, so shoud be able to post some good pics for you all on that one. :)
The same bumper that is on the SRI? It looks quite cool without a number plate, but where have you relocated it?
Not keen on the splitter, but otherwise think its a great looking car, looks very tidy, and no silly bumpers etc :) Drop an XE in it if thats the way that you want to go, will give it a whole new lease of life :)

thats looks so clean and unspoilt, if it were mine id probably juice up the 1.3 or shove a 1.6 in it.
Looks so good in that colour and im still a fan of the SRi/SXi bumpers over the GTE .

Begging your pardon mr Peel and yes you are you right :) .
I have not relocated the front plate, just take it off for shows, gives it a much cleaner look IMO. Wish i could leave it off, drove home from Billing one year with it in the front footwell, and there it stayed for about 6 weeks, the local police must agree with it looking better as I never got stopped! hahahaha! Had to put it back on for MOT tho!
Yeah, I really like the look without a front number plate, I should do that for mine (assuming there isn't mould hiding under there!). Mine being white, perhaps I should have number plate stickers on the bonnet, retro style!
