loojks like the best car i have ever owned could be going in the next few months,

recently it has been costing tooooo much to maintain & the shell is now in a very sorry state & i jsut don;t have the funds to get her sorted out, it's really gutting cos my GTE is undoubtedly the most fun car i have ever owned & it's going to be hard to get rid of her but getting way way in debt over a car is not a good thing for me right now. will stillb e staying witht eh VX family though, probably going to be getitng a V6 vecci (probably a CDX for all the gizmos's like Climate Control ect) cos i need a car that is going to get me to work & back each day, hopefull spend 12-18 months just running the vecci & saving up then i could be in aposisiton to buy another GTE as 2nd car & have it as a fun toy rather than a daily driver - that way i can have something a bit special without having to rely on it & breaking it all the time

Have you considered a reshell? It would take mebbie a week to swap it all around, if it was an 8v shell then the only problem you'd encounter would be the gear shift which is even then just a case of keeping the 8v assembly and swapping the multilink 16v affair with the knuckle joint and knurled rod from the 8v gear linkage.

have thought about it but the car is nearly 15 years old now & just 1 thing after another is going wrong & i need a car that is going to be reliable & not break every other weekend, :lol

According the several Vauxhall dealers and The Vauxhall Heritage Centre reckon theres none 'new from Vauxhall' 2 door shells to be had..

If it's true... who knows?

A Deawoo Nexia shell although virtually identicle does have a few differences, the most annoying being the rear lightcluster setup although a competent welder could soon sort that out, also the Nexia bodyshells seem to rust quicker than the Mk2's! Think Deawoo skimped on the anti-corosion tbh:(

I ment the latter but the former can be found, but they are only slightly less rare then Hens teeth!
