  • Xedrah's Kadett GSi 2.3 16V

Well, as you may have read, I have a lot of plans for the coming winterperiod with my Astra.

    In short:
    - welding engine bay
    - quickrak
    - lower suspension
    - 2.2 or 2.3 bottom end (tuned and renewed)
    - maybe other cams
    - Alu flywheel
    - ultralight crankshaft
    - stutbrace
    - reprogramming DTA
    - new head and rear lights
    - some other things...

Last week I removed the engine, step 1

This week I'm working on the engine bay and I will disassemble the 20XE engine tomorrow.

The crankshaft is ready, only needs to be balanced in combination with the new flywheel. So that's on hold.

    Keep u posted.

                  Thanks all of you.

I do a lot of things myself, but I also have a lot of help of someone with many, many years of experience. He is the owner of a tuning company. FCG Engineering, see http://www.freddycane.com He has abused dozens (?) of crankshafts this way.

The crank was originally about 18,5 kilo's, now it's a bit less than 13 kilo's. At this moment I have more or less the same crank in my Nova 2.0 16V. I revs like a beast and idless perfectly.

Ow, ow. I've had a bit painfull weekend. LOL

I planned to use my old 20XE pistons for my new 2.2 engine. But as I found out this weekend, the're worn to much. That means that I need new pistons.
                      Costs a lot of money...

To do it right, I ordered 88mm DTM pistons. It 'll be a 2.4 liter engine then.
It's a bit of a shock, because I didn't plan these expenses, but on the other side: it has some advantages.

Mmm, scuse me. 88mm pistons makes 2301 cc and not 2.4 liter. Nobody noticed this?
