What Mk2 Astras Have You Owned

Right, I know a few people on here have owned a few mk2 astras and I was wondering how many people have owned? I'll get the ball rolling.

1.3 5 door Merit. No rust on the rear arches at all, written off on my 18th birthday by an old muppet. Never got any pics of her Owned it for just over 6 months before the accident.

1.3 3 door L. Bodywork was pretty immaculate when I got this one also. Owned it for a year and a half, went to the scrap yard 2 weeks ago. Also converted it to a 1.6 while I had it.




Whilst this car was in my garage and I wasnt sure what to do with it, I went out and bought a GTE 16v with a rear end smash from ebay.

2.0l 16v GTE. Bodywork was shoddy, sills were completely shot, rear arch was badly repaired, other arch had a gash down the side, rear end was damaged.

Whilst I owned the tango wagon the oppourtunity of a LET powered Champion came up that I couldnt refuse. So out came the loan and this is now the car that I own.

Astra Champion Ltd Edition. Leather interior, LET engine, general tidy bodywork although I have a suspision the sills are shot uinder the sideskirts. Few fiddely problems and things like not having a speedo etc irritate me. Lack of money or knowledge means the works arent done. Needed complete brakes overhaul that I have had done and also cambelt kit.






That is the history of my Astras! No doubt I will put the champ up for sale before the end of next year and move on again! i.e another LET engined Astra, but one thats complete and doesnt need me doing anything to it

Ive just had 2 myself

A 1300s Merit - 5 door in 'off' red (almost like the tango wagon above). Brilliant car, no rust on the arches, it had been in a couple of scrapes before my ownership and i put it through a few more.

That had a modified GTE bumper, drilled airbox, clear indicators, badge respray, sri seats and trim parts, sportex back box.

Now i have the 1600 Gl which is in pretty good shape, again clear indicators, modded air box, inline fuel filter, debadge, Gte alloys, Gte rear clusters, reprayed bumpers.

Not too sure on the future of this one - i'm always on the look out for decent 5 doors - hope to one day end up with a SRI/SXI or a 2l 8v converted 5 door.

only one before the let, a Metallic tawny Brown SR, 1986, C848 SNV.......sold to my brother, who abused it untill it's death.

May need to add to my thread that the bloke I bought this car from is officially a dick. Its sat on coilovers in that pic on the rear which is what the car was supposed to come with. He removed them before I bought it when he was supposed to leave them on. Also he took the uprated chip out too. If I didnt drive so far that car would have stayed on his drive lol. ARSEHOLE

my first mk2 and first GTE all 1800 cc of it, spun this car so many times whilst getting used to the handling. eventually it seemed to rust away



my 2nd 1.8 bit tidier this one, resprayed in silk violet and my first go at making a car go faster and look better, including full janspeed system inc 4 branch manifold, compomotive mo's front strut brace and a few other bolt on bits. ended up being sold cheap as it wouldn't start one day and I never got it going again so had to sell it as a non-runner and had to let the mo's go with it cos the locking wheel nut key bust meaning I had to them go with it





never got a picture of my first 16v, bordeaux red and rotten underneath started getting it back to standard then got offered another 16v cheap so stripped it for spares and sold bits off it. unfortunatly the engine got nicked from my mates workshop by gypo's who probably wieghed it in as scrap

my forth and the first to go into a ditch, then it went down hill from there



started restoring it then got made redundant so stripped it and with the money I bought this



soon to be another turbo'd mk2

H reg SXi, red, 5 door, owned be a school teacher before me and was ultra-clean. Not got one picture of it yet I have millions of the cars I've have before and after it
I should have not sold it for a bag of shite XR3i 16v

And the GTE that everybody knows and loves!

I miss the summer when the car stayed clean for longer than 5 minutes.

1996-1997. B reg polar white 1.8 GTE. Not actually owned, but many fond memories of my mates. It was a shed but always fun and had character.

1998-2001. D reg carmine red Astramax van 1.3 petrol. Given to me by my chinese takeaway employers after crashing my Orion 1.6i Ghia (which I still miss).
Seemed fairly sound at first and ran for a year. Swapped engine + box off my sister's Nova SR 1.3 as it had lower miles and 5 speed. Poked through the sills one day so spent the next 6 months in dad's garage being completely properly repaired and resprayed. Drove mum's hateful Rover 213S in the meantime. Still going to this day I believe.

2001-date. G reg flame red 2.0 8V GTE. As good as the van was (very handy having a van) I needed a car being in a professional job. Bought the GTE for £50 off my mate as it was sat in the car park at work doing nothing. My intention was to tidy it up a bit and run around in it for a year then bin it when something better came up.

2001-date. G red flame red 2.0 8V GTE. However, also at work was this beauty. One mild mannered bloke owner from 1 year old. Looked after. He asked me if I wanted it for £600 having asked him about it before #2. I had it and decided to use #2 for spares.

owned a j plate white 16valver (j401 dyj) bloody best car i ever owned!! loved it to bits. Bought it in 1999? had it three years then the month before i completed the payments i lost it round a bend, slid it sideways onto what was the smallest curb in the world!! Tow truck driver said it must have been the angle i hit it as it ripped the bloody wheel off and f**ked the wing, suspension, arm etc. was only going 30mph!!!....sold it for a pittance a few months later but it the arches were def getting worse...wish id kept it now ;-<

where abouts in yorkshire are you? i'm near york, and there's tonnes of the dirty feckers around here aswell.

Anyway, back to the subject. I'm on my first one, which i bought this year in August. GTE 16v.
