..... I thought I would start a new one sesing as I sold the red astra a few weeks back ( enjoying it vectragsi? ). This diary will keep tabs on my champion turbo and my missus new car a astra sri turbo. Finally talked her in to getting rid of the german bardge. Ok its not a mk2 (I tried), butI think its more like a mk2 then the mk3 ever was. Its not mega fast but it goes well and I have a few plans for it.

Since getting it ive put the irmscher grill in and colour coded the mouldings and handles.
Its going to get lowered, darker wheels, chiped, gauges, smoked lights etc etc. All in time.
Back to the champion and its not looking good. After my last trip to the pod, it was evident that there was a major internal problem. So out came the engine and off came the head. At first it looked like a complete oil ring failure on no.2, but on closer inspection, parts of the piston are missing from detonation!! and the cyclinder bore is badly damaged!!
My engine builder says I have two options, he is trying to work out which one will be the cheapist and then ill let everyone know what Im doing.
But on the bright side the carbon bonnet and spoiler look great, Im getting a turbo smart boost controller for christmas and Ive still got a full bottle of NOS!
Im also going to try and improve on 2005 stats:-
220bhp - 300lb/ft torque
0 - 60mph in 6sec
13.9sec 1/4mile@92mph (lowest ever sub 14 terminal!! maybe)

enjoying the car very much so, since fitted that bee sting areal + new head unit , replaced sunroof and as much as i like the look of thoose seats i had to swap them for originals (temp) were bity to high and to much a pain to get in back (i want those champ seats on ebay)
next task heater matrix leak + cam belt
its being well looked after ;) :D

very nice would not mind one of those so i could keep the gte as a show car.
Is there something wrong with that 1/4 mile or did you just get one hell of a launch?!! My 1/4 mile was a 90mph terminal but was an end time of 15.3
Glad youve got another project on the go matey, theres always something going on with you! :D ... May not be a mk2 but i look forward to seeing what you get upto and I hope the champ rebuild doesnt work out too pricey :(

Not had a lot of time to update this thread. Been busy striping out the wide arch converible thing and getting the engine ready for the champion.
Anyway got the steering rack mounts welded up (even though they didnt need doing) so as soon as I get my 6 speed back the engine is going back in.

I put my other turbo on this engine and gave the thing a bit of a clean up. It had only done about 300 miles and looked about 10 years old!
On closer inspection it turns out the bloke was not bull$hiting when he said the head was gasflowed! Nice. He also said the bottom end was fully lightend and balanced and it had pipercams.

Nice looking lump.
Welding the rack mounts is a *itch but good move doing it before it tears.

Dropped the champ up V-tuning yesterday morning. Henryk is a nice bloke and we had a chat about LET tuning (it was more him telling me hw its done!)
Hopefuly he will be able to figure out why it dont like running over 13psi once it gets hot. It was quite a nice drive down there though, hit 21psi on the M25 blowing away a renault clio 182. He reckons it might be sorted middle of next week, full report to follow.
