Werrington Park hillclimb video (www.btinternet.com/~slillington/v7.avi)

Making an arse of yourself in public is bad enough, without getting it caught on video. The car was patched up and back out racing again 2 weeks after this happened in April.

New for 2005
Home made solid (all metal) engine mounts fitted. Vibration is pretty bad and I’m not sure if these are actually going to be useable. Roll cage welded in at A and B pillars. Front suspension top mounts fitted on top of reinforced turrets for more travel.

Front wishbone mounting points relocated 20mm further forward for more positive caster. Front camber adjusted to suit crossply tyres. Equal length drive shafts fitted which required getting the engine out to remove a sheared bolt from the block at one of the bearing carrier mounting points. Leaky sump fixed (hopefully).
Numerous dents and scratches patched up. Round rear arches to stop tyres rubbing and make it easier to get wheel straps on and off when trailering. New slicks at enormous expense (I would normally get a set of 4 road tyres for what I paid for each of these).

Nearly ready for the first event of 2005 on Easter Sunday.

Looks great and I bet it's great fun to drive! Have you had it weighed? Or tried any 0-60 or 1/4 times in it?

The engine mounts aren't very exotic and only made out of steel, the two front ones are sections cut from a scrap lorry chassis rail.
I've still got the white compomotives, they've got wets on them now.
It's never been weighed.
I did a sprint a couple of years ago that had a timed 1/4 and it did it in 14.2 with old engine which had about 40 bhp less than the current one. At that event the fastest 1/4 in my class was a very powerful BDG powered mk1 Escort that got a fastest time of 13.29.

nice race car there. I'm thinking about entering hillclimb competitions too so your setup will help me a lot. Just one question: did you made the rear arches yourself or did you buy them? if you buy them can you please tell me where?
