its fair to say they are both soft summer tyres and adequate in the wet (i.e just drive slower)

might want the opposite, good in wet, adequate in dry.

        Re: Proxes Or Paradas ???

I've found F1 Eagles better as wet tyres as it were. Don't think there is much in the Parada and TR-1's to be honest mate. I tend to choose the TR-1's on price and the fact the tread pattern is symmetrical (sad I know). The Paradas used to be A359's back in the day right?

I've got P6000's on the Corsa as it came with them and they do what they are meant to do but I haven't driven on them in anger really yet so reserving judgement until then.

I'm a big fan of toyo's tbh, but I cant say I've tried the paradas on one of my cars. The did feel pretty much the same on a friends car, but I only had a little drive. I really liked the uniroyal rainsports great wet tyres, but the dry grip was not as good as the toyo's. Is it worth sticking a set of somthing cheaper on like the uniroyals for the next few months, then maybe a some r888 in the summer. You can swap back at the end of summer, the difference on the road between a 'normal' set of tyres and r888 is amazing. There not as bad as you would think in the wet, but maybe pushing it for this time of year.

I want to try some R888's too but the road noise puts me off a bit for day use. May have to get a spare set of Cav slabs for the front and keep them as track only or something. That and I haven't done a hub bearing upgrade on the Corsa yet.

Having been out in the same rain as you today Darren i would say maybe try something a little more specific to wet weather driving than proxes(assuming your talking about T1Rs), as much as they are great in the dry, they have slipped abit today and yesterday i must admit, now that could just be me being abit to heavy with the throttle in first and second but it did surprise me a bit and they have ALOT of tread on them. Just a thought

What happened to r888's being declared not suitable for road use, was that just a dit or is it still going to happen?

Uniroyal Rainsport 2's have excellent wet weather grip on my MX-5. Cheap too.

                    Re: Proxes Or Paradas ???

hi there i have used the pradas on a couple cars and to be honest in the dry they are amazing but in the heavy rain where the water has "pooled"
i found they aqua planned i guess because of the big blockie design.
i agree with the others the rainsport is a great tyre i used these as wet tyres on my corsa track car and they never disappointed.

So many tires to choose from, been reading up here http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/To...s-T1-Sport.htm

I suppose I needs more wheels for winter/summer tires .. would be the best all round.

Reading the reviews I'm not sure they really help fully, I mean, some peeps get 15-20K out of their tires. I don't get that on the back ones let alone the fronts !! I get about 3k on the fronts.
Last set of Maxis MA Z1's are fantastic in the summer, even in the wet ... but come the winter they are very disappointing esp in the wet.

Thats good to know about the maxxis tyres I was thinking of trying them, the rainsport 2 are very good wet tyres. This is why I have several sets of wheels, a set for the r888 summer tyres another for wets (probley rainsports) a set for some proper slicks now. Lastly a manky set of rims for some mud/snow tyres to be used on the mk3 and my gte.

I had F1 Eagles on our old Astra mk3 GSi and they were an awesome all rounder for both dry and wet as an everyday tyre, they come highly recommended by me. I've used both T1-S and T1-R and they aren't as good as F1's if pushing hard when it's wet.

lol ! i think thats an indication of how you drive, not a failing of the tyre/brand

the cheap budget tyres tend to last the longest because the first thing that is sacrificed to save money is the tyre compound.

seems that you are looking for a tyre that will shed allot of standing water so you can drive quickly when its raining, bit of a conflict of interests? serious question but cant you just slow down a bit and keep with a summer tyre ?

Darren, I don't drive like a loon all the time ... but I lost all four wheels last week just following another car at less than fifty downhill on a slight long curve, no power was involved as I was coasting. S.H.1.T me right up. Wasn't that much standing water either.

Summer tires in winter just don't go, we have so much rain around here, think it's the highest in the UK. That and I have 205's on. Think I'll be going back to 195's just to help a little.

And then it's summer/winter wheels for me,

Just asking for peeps views on wet tire performance, not max grip for looning it about.
