Pointless thread but Just wondering... ive heard a few different things about the Digi dash on the GTE's im just wondering which was the 16v dash? there was one with the straight curve rev counter and one with the notch in it.. now i always thought it was obviosly the notched one that was the 16v as it was pictured as 16v in the original vaux adverts etc.. some people reckon the other type is 16v (its not usually) and some say it depends on the year....(obviously a few 16v's have the curve type but this is usually cos theyve been swapped, cos of damage etc) so did they fit them randomly to either 8v or 16v?

curve is usually 16v
the tick is 8v and early 16v

as a general rule of thumb

Yep, more or less what Rob has said. All early GTE's be it 8 or 16v had the 'tck' shaped counter. From around 1990, this was revised to a 'quarter circle' which is what mine has. Both 8 and 16v GTE's where fitted with the late spec dash, but as with everything, there always seems to of been a bit of mix and match.

going on from that question, im sure i remember a thread on another forum a while back telling you what dash they came out of. For instance when you turn the ignition on the whole dash lights an resets itself , but the mph gives a readout, its this readout that different on the 8 an 16 v , isnt it?

i honestly cant remember what mines says lol .

I quite fancy swapping to the curved one, Ive got the tick and I find it a bit hard to read TBH!

Ah yes ive got the curve on my 1990 H reg 8v but ive got the tick on the 16v  but i suppose its cos its early version of 16v... so im best sticking with the curve if it was the newest style. Clears that up a bit then

the tick is nice though as it has the red section at the top, and the whole rev counter flashes on and off when you get up near 7k

I think you can just swap the screen blocks inside the digi dash itslef cant you? be easier and wont affect your mileage reading:D

and theres the risk the new dash isnt comatible with your current transducer
